In celebration of Women’s History month and the impactful contributions that women have made, we asked our staff to share who they think is making an impact and difference at AMC. We’re thrilled to have so many incredible women leaders in all areas of association management who are instrumental in providing exceptional leadership and service to our association partners and their AMC colleagues. Zinat Ali, operations manager for MCA, is a pillar of knowledge as well as a dedicated leader of AMC's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Advisory Group. Molly Anderson, executive director of NANN, fosters a team culture of appreciation, recognition, and high achievement. Karen Christensen Araujo, director of marketing, is a go-to source for strategy and expertise who makes it possible for great work to happen. Peggy Doherty, director of operations for MCA and membership/operations for CBA, uses her leadership to foster a positive and productive environment in which everyone feels empowered personally and professionally. Leah Farfan, education and learning coordinator for AAHPM, leverages her professionalism and strong attention to detail to build trusted partnerships with faculty and her colleagues alike. Josephine Fazio, operations manager for IEC, draws on her exceptional project management skills to seamlessly manage multiple symposia across the globe each year. Natalia Kot, registration manager, is dedicated and driven, but no matter how busy, she is always willing to lend a hand, share advice, or bring some much-needed positivity to the day. Nicole W., executive director for ABM and RNRF, is a life-long learner, who brings a thoughtful approach to problem-solving, patiently shares her expertise, and empowers those around her to succeed. We’re thrilled that AMC governance leaders Mark Engle, Erin Volland, CAE, and Debbie Trueblood, MSW, FASAE, IOM, CAE are bringing their expertise to the 2025 CMSS Governance & Leadership Excellence Across Medicine (GLEAM) program as faculty members. This is a not-to-miss program for medical society leaders wanting to supercharge their governance practices and enhance their impact.
Registration for the 2025 CMSS Governance & Leadership Excellence Across Medicine (GLEAM) Program is open. We are excited to announce that this year’s program is available to both CMSS Members and Non-Member Societies in the healthcare space. GLEAM equips medical society executives, staff, and physician volunteers with the skills, tools, and connections they need to thrive as leaders. This signature program is part of CMSS’ commitment to cultivate excellence in governance and leadership of medical specialty societies. Together with peers from across societies and CMSS faculty partners at Association Management Center, GLEAM participants engage in six months of expertly designed learning opportunities. Independent Learning Modules run from May – November each year and include the following elements: ✔️ Self-paced video and audio modules for teams to apply real-world challenges to their own society settings. ✔️ Case-based learning sessions, in which 3-5 society cohorts and a CMSS faculty facilitator explore a range of governance issues and best practices. ✔️ All-cohort learning sessions that connect GLEAM program participants and faculty to explore emerging themes across the cohort. ✔️ Annual In-Person GLEAM Summit, where peers and faculty gather to address cross-cutting medical society issues and build lasting relationships.
