ASSP Region IV American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Alabama ASSP Thanks to the Region for this surprise! A very nice appreciation gift for service to the society. My time as an Officer ends June 30th. All in all I was honored to serve 16 years straight as an Officer, holding positions at the Chapter Level as Membership Chair (1 year), Secretary (1 year), President (3 years) and Delegate (2 years) as well as including at the Regional and Area Level as Area Director (5 years) and Deputy Regional Vice President (6 years). This year marks my 31st as a Member. Thanks to all those who led before and inspired me to get active. Many best wishes to those who will carry on and make our profession even better! Thank you! We wanted to say what we knew many in the audience would be feeling and thinking. Infact, have been feeling and thinking. Safety professionals are one of the most passionate group of individuals I've been privileged to work with. I have great friends who are safety professionals. They're pretty much like therapists! Always thinking and tending to their clients (employees they serve). That means most of the time, they're not thinking about themselves. I moderated for the first time and was lucky for it to be for Chris McGlynn, MS, CSP who had a fabulous presentation on “Confined Spaces Fatalities Don’t Become a Statistic.”
