This article from Fierce Network explores how Ziply Fiber is converting its old, unused Central Office (CO) buildings into cloud-based data centers. COs were essential elements of copper network infrastructure, but now most copper networks have been replaced by fiber, rendering the COs mostly obsolete. Last week, two of our Snohomish-based leaders, Joint-Use Manager Brittany T. and Sr. Director of Technical Services Kelly M., visited our Fort Wayne, IN office for a customer meeting and to collaborate with their teammates. They also shared a dinner with several of our Midwest-based leaders and took some photos during their stay!

Congratulations to our colleagues at Whidbey Telecom for receiving the NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association Smart Rural Community Showcase Award! Their inspiring collaboration with Sno-Isle Technical Skills Center and the Fiber Broadband Association is creating a pipeline for students to become licensed fiber technicians, which will only become more critical as new fiber buildouts ramp up nationwide in the coming years. Community engagement is one of ATCO’s core values, so we love seeing great, impactful programs like this one in nearby Everett, WA!
