On this Women's Equality Day, we would like to take a chance to introduce and say thank you to our very first female ATF Special Agent, Jo Ann Kocher. She was a trailblazer who forged a path for generations to follow. ATF has committed to participating in the 30x30 Initiative, an effort to advance and increase women in law enforcement. “ATF Legacies” is an interview series featuring innovators, changemakers, and legends from ATF’s history who highlight the importance of the 30x30 Initiative. Watch Special Agent Kocher's story at https://lnkd.in/ejr2kRur #SheIsATF

ATF’s Law Enforcement Leaders of America (LELA) program brings together a powerhouse panel of criminal justice professionals, who are paving the way for the next generation of public safety heroes. The program has been presented to HBCUs and other college campuses, offering students and faculty the opportunity to engage with panelists on how to succeed in law enforcement careers and make a positive impact on their communities. ATF offers LELA panels at no charge to campuses. ATF coordinates the panelists and provides programs for distribution. After the discussions, students have the chance to network with professionals, exchange contact info, and learn about potential opportunities within each agency. ATF’s forensic auditors are an elite cadre of financial investigators who assist with investigations into firearms trafficking, arson for profit, explosives violations, tobacco and alcohol diversion. Auditors analyze complex data to uncover financial crimes such as money laundering or wire fraud and develop conspiracy cases. Their findings are used to help identify suspects, investigative leads, illegal profits, and/or assets that may be seized during the asset forfeiture process.
