Atlanta's impact ecosystem is one of one. 💖 Last night Shakila Ali, MPH shared her story and the work of Doste Afghan Foundation during a Global Shapers Community - Atlanta Hub workshop at The Lola. Having fled Afghanistan as a young child in the late 9Os, Shakila now supports widowed women and children in Afghanistan whose rights and well-being are threatened by the Taliban, which regained control of the country in 2021. If you aren't familiar with the women's rights crisis in Afghanistan, I highly recommend starting here: https://lnkd.in/eDgHzjQv A big thanks to Sabah Mohammed and the Global Shapers Community - Atlanta Hub for coordinating the event! 💗 and to Dana for hosting us at The Lola. When the original venue fell through with very little notice, Angelica, Lisa, and Dana stepped in to make this all possible. I'm blown away by how intentionally this team shows up for community. And I'm so, so grateful to friends who joined us: Lexie Newhouse, Sarah Zou, Sarah Anne Smith, Madeline Oliff, & Soumya Gupta, y'all being there made the night that much more special!
