Sr. Deputy General Counsel leading legal strategy with broad ranging expertise

Living life through helping others - that is always a laudable goal. When we can take some time out of our workdays to provide pro bono services, with the support of our organizations, it is always a rewarding day. Today, in collaboration with Atlanta Legal Aid Society and Troutman Pepper, several Norfolk Southern lawyer and non-lawyer volunteers participated in our second virtual Veterans Law Pro Bono Clinic. For a small time commitment, we collectively were able to make a huge impact to provide vital services to many veterans and their families, and we facilitated Atlanta Legal Aid’s continued work to make these veterans’ lives better. We have scheduled quarterly clinics, and it will be rewarding to continue to make a difference. Thank you to Shannon Patterson and Kristin Verrill for spearheading this collaboration with me, and to all the volunteers who continue to make these sessions successful! #probono #veteransupport

We have many great pro bono partners who help our clients, and we are always happy to work with a firm on finding new opportunities for their attorneys and staff, like with Fisher Phillips. Corey Goerdt explains, "In 2022, Fisher Phillips became the first and only national management-side labor and employment law firm to invest in a full-time attorney exclusively dedicated to leading pro bono and community engagement initiatives (that’s me!). Our staff and attorneys have particularly enjoyed supporting our transgender and non-binary neighbors through Legal Aid’s Gender Affirming Name Change Project. Shout out to Lori Anderson for her leadership on this initiative, which is a national model for name-change projects in other states. And many thanks to my colleague Lauren Frisch, a tireless champion for Legal Aid, serving on the Legal Aid Service Council and helping organize the annual Great Whiskey Debate."
