CEC and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics - NCTM have released a joint position statement recognizing the important role of educators in ensuring students with disabilities have access to and success with grade/course-level standards, receive high-quality instruction, and are supported by systems that believe in their abilities. An impossible harmony between Taylor Swift's music and data science resulted in a breakthrough. “This grant will help measr unlock the power of diagnostic classification models (DCMs) for even more researchers across skill levels,” Jake Thompson said. The second round of Institute of Education Sciences funding for this project began in August and runs through July 2026. Students with significant cognitive disabilities are too often excluded from rigorous academic instruction. Our DLM alternate assessments measure student achievement based on grade-level academic targets. The assessments offer students with the most significant cognitive disabilities a way to show what they know and can do in ELA, math, and science. Students taking DLM assessments have a range of academic skills that prepare them for jobs, education, and community involvement after high school. #IDPD

Our WRITE project tackles a widespread problem in Alaska and across the United States: Many high school teachers, especially those in career and technical education, lack the formal training to effectively teach argumentative writing. The project started as a way to improve Alaska Native students' writing skills and better prepare them for success after high school. Now, as the development of WRITE resources draws to a close, the tools and strategies created through the project will become a part of a digital collection of learning resources for all schools, districts and leadership agencies across the state.
