Roblox just won't stop growing! They just surpassed 10.7 million peak concurrent users, up from their record-breaking 10 million just a couple of months ago. Dress to Impress boasts over 1 million players, highlighting its growing popularity and engagement. To put that into perspective a single game on Roblox now attracts more simultaneous players than all but one game on Steam. Exciting times for the gaming industry! Halo is making a significant move by transitioning to Unreal Engine! Let me talk about why that is a big deal and what implications that can have for the game industry moving forward 👀 For context, Halo originally had their own engine and had to be both a tech company and game studio. Moving forward they are moving all future projects to Unreal Engine to simplify their workload and to give their game's a face lift with one of the best engines out there. Daniel Henley (Lead FX Artist) put it best when he said, "The original Halo franchise was a graphics showcase. It was best in class... And that is what Halo needs to be again." Here are the three big predictions and why they are a big deal for the game industry and more specifically the UGC space: 1) Halo's shift to Unreal Engine will enhance its existing UGC presence, Forge, paving the way for creators to craft innovative Halo experiences, akin to other successful Unreal Engine games. 2) This move positions Halo to develop larger and more sophisticated games within its intellectual property (IP) universe. I anticipate new Halo shooters, a revival of Halo Wars, and potentially, a Halo Battle Royale game. What type of game would you like to see Halo Studios tackle? 3) My boldest prediction: I believe this move could be setting up a much deeper relationship with Epic Games where Halo could live on Fortnite (not exclusively). This wouldn't be far off from what we have seen from LEGO, Fall Guys and most recently TMNT. Atlas Creative had the honor of bring Halo to Fortnite once before but it was at the beginning of Fortnite Creative and now that the infrastructure and tools have been built out 100x - Halo could definitely benefit from showing up in some pretty big ways. Exciting times ahead for Halo and the gaming community! Watch more about this development here: https://lnkd.in/enDAD_FV #Halo #UnrealEngine #GamingIndustry #UGC #FortniteIntegration

This week, Roblox faced scrutiny following a recent article by Hindenburg, raising concerns about their user base and safety standards. While the piece sparked discussion, it's important to consider the broader context. One of my favorite articles on this topic is by SuperJoost. Here are some of the insights. Serving millions daily poses challenges for any platform, yet Roblox is actively enhancing moderation and transparency efforts. With 28% of their cost structure allocated to trust and safety, it's evident they prioritize these aspects and hopefully will continue to invest here. Despite the allegations on exaggerating numbers, Roblox continues to experience remarkable growth. Not to mention, unlike most in the industry, Roblox reported detailed user data for years. There are bots that take up spots in some games - specifically those with a heavy trading game loop but there are also moderation measures in place by Roblox and it is additionally encouraged for game developers and studios to add their own systems in as well. It's crucial to remember that Roblox, like all platforms, is in a state of evolution, progressing in the right direction. Imagine being able to buy a digital asset that works seamlessly in Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, and beyond. Epic is pushing toward a metaverse where digital items can follow players across platforms, giving more value and trust to in-game purchases. Tim Sweeney spoke to Verge and laid out some exciting and ambitious plans for the metaverse. Not only are they merging Unreal Editor for Fortnite with Unreal Engine to create Unreal Engine 6, but they’re also building a persistent universe with Disney, creating a connected, interoperable ecosystem - and they don't want to stop there. Epic's grand plan is to create a metaverse that consists of interconnected digital spaces like Fortnite, Roblox and Minecraft. It’s an exciting time for creators, developers, and brands. The idea of a truly connected gaming experience is becoming more tangible every day. 🔥Roblox has the opportunity to become one of the primary social platforms for young adults. It is already offering a new way to connect beyond traditional social media and has the potential to rival the top social platforms. One of my favorite announcements at RDC was the brand new features to party up with others in game. The new party features promise a more seamless gaming experience, including streamlined match-joining and text communication, all while prioritizing user safety. Excitingly, Roblox plans to introduce voice chat for verified users aged 13 and above, alongside private party features for enhanced gaming collaboration. Keep an eye out as Roblox gears up for the official release of Party towards the end of the year! 🎮#Roblox #SocialPlatform #Innovation

In the world of user-generated content focused games like Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite, traditional game design principles don’t always apply. These platforms thrive on community-driven experiences that cater to a different mindset than what we might see in AAA game titles. A perfect example is the rise of Bathroom Line Simulator on Roblox—an entire game based on waiting in line for the bathroom 😅 The success of Bathroom Line Simulator highlights an essential aspect of UGC platforms: social interaction is often more important than gameplay mechanics. Brands and developers looking to succeed in UGC environments need to recognize that fun, social, and meme-worthy moments are often the driving force behind a game’s success. It’s a reminder that what works for traditional game design doesn’t always translate to UGC platforms—and leaning into the creativity, humor, and some times absurdity of these communities can lead to unexpected hits.

We soft-launched our first Fortnite Tycoon over the weekend and saw it hit 54 minutes of playtime. Given, this is with a small control group but the goal is to perfect most stats before it is pushed too hard to the masses. Usually around this stage we are looking for 25-30 minutes but with Tycoons being one of the most engaging game modes on platform the goal is much higher in order to compete. We want to be as transparent as possible to show what it is like being a UGC Studio so stay tuned and we will keep you posted on how it goes with proper marketing later this month🤞

Fall Guys came to Fortnite last week and we now have the opportunity to work with the fun and goofy IP. Atlas Creative built a game we are really proud of and it has been the number one played game in the Fall Guys numerous times in the past week and totes a play time of over 30 MINUTES!! Players are responding really well to the new IP. We can't wait to see what Epic Games is cooking up next! And if you want to learn about how your IP can show up in the "Metaverse" please reach out 😁
