A week has passed since the ATRIP Annual Congress at Luiss Guido Carli in Rome, and it is time for some concluding remarks and words of gratitude. It was a huge pleasure to host such a wonderful event, rich in content and lively discussions - both during the sessions and the fantastic evening events. All of this was possible primarily thanks to the diverse list of attendees: 200 participants and 120+ speakers from 40+ countries, gathering for a truly unique international IP experience — a big thanks to everyone for making it all possible! 🌍 👏 The year-long preparations for the Congress took lots of effort. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to Professor Christophe Geiger, the scientific director and organizer of the Congress, and everyone at Luiss who was involved, in particular: the LUISS IP research team: Vincenzo Iaia, Ludovico Bossi, Maria Vittoria Palmieri, Francesca Di Lazzaro, Dr. Iur. Anna Zielkiewicz, LL.M.; Antonella Aiello and the Luiss Event team; Roberta Pasquini and the entire Triumph team. Big thanks also to the ATRIP team - Prof. Orit Fischman Afori, Prof. Raquel Xalabarder, Ingrid Boland and Gil Dagan and all our Executive Board members, as well as Genevieve Wilkinson and Evana Wright for their help in organizing the Doctoral workshop. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the Luiss management for their unconditional support, its former Rector Andrea Prencipe and its new Rector Paolo Boccardelli; the head of the Department of Law Antonio Punzi and the Head for research at the Department of Law, Aldo Sandulli. We equally thank the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO for its historical and long-lasting support for ATRIP, and in particular its Assistant Director General Edward Kwakwa for his keynote address and support of the Doctoral competition. Our Congress ended with a transition in the ATRIP Presidency. We wish to thank Prof. Christophe Geiger (ATRIP President 2022-2024) for his long dedicated work, and congratulate the new President, Prof. Orit Fischman-Afori (ATRIP President 2024-2026), who has officially entered into her new role. We also want to congratulate the new President Elect, Prof. Estelle Derclaye. More visuals from the Congress and further updates will be shared soon. In the meantime, we invite you to pin the end of June 2025 in your calendars, and get ready for our next ATRIP Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark! 🇩🇰 🤩

After 4 amazing days of IP, many of our remaining guests gathered for a tour around the magnificent city of Rome. The tour included a panoramic bus ride through some of the city's most breathtaking and picturesque sites, a stop for a group photo at the historic Circo Massimo (see below), and then a guided tour at the impressive architectonic MAXXI Museum - where our guests will soon enjoy a final aperitivo for this trip 🍸 🥂

The closing address of the ATRIP Congress was very exciting, as it contained the transition of the ATRIP Presidency. The current President Prof. Christophe Geiger introduced our President for 2024-2026, Prof. Orit Fischman Afori. We will summarize in more detail later on. For now, we would like to give a round of applause to our Presidents for an unforgettable ATRIP Congress at Luiss Guido Carli! 👏 👏 👏

ATRIP - Teaching and Research in IP reposted this
42nd ATRIP - Teaching and Research in IP Congress in Rome: I had the privilege of sharing the results of my research on upcycling and intellectual property with the ATRIP community. The panel on "UPCYCLING, SUSTAINABILITY AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY" was chaired by Ansgar Ohly and comprised several presentations that looked at the issue from different angles (trademark law, design protection and copyright law). My presentation focused on the intersection of trademark and copyright law when it comes to the upcycling of trademarked works of applied art. Thanks to ATRIP President Christophe Geiger and his team for the perfect organisation of this year's ATRIP Congress in the Eternal City at Luiss Guido Carli University. It is always a pleasure to meet so many dear colleagues from all over the world. #ip #upcycling #sdg #atrip
