Agora of acceleration services for higher education institutions

About us

The ancient Greek agora provided an open space that served as a meeting ground for citizens to exchange ideas and form alliances resulting in historical advances. Is such an agora possible today? The EU-funded aUPaEU project will follow the ancient Greek concept of the agora and build a shared space where all stakeholders can provide and consume services while contributing their knowledge. The project is based on the collaboration of five academic institutions from two European alliances under the European Universities Initiative, EPiCUR and Unite!, which are working to integrate and offer acceleration services in the context of a coordinated support system for higher education institutions, networks, alliances of universities, and their umbrella organisations. aUPaEU is a collaboration between five academic institutions from two European alliances under the European Universities Initiative, EPiCUR and Unite!, to integrate and implement acceleration services in a coordinated support system for higher education institutions (HEIs), networks, alliances, and umbrella organisations. The partners are experts in R&I modernization strategies that could be replicated by other European HEIs, networks, and partnerships. Each partner has advanced their institutions internally, sought new development routes through the European University Alliances, and contributed to various European and regional university networks. aUPaEU's goal is to accelerate agoras with methodologies, sustainability plans, coaching services, and tangible digital technologies. This accelerated agora will enable integrated, shared, and long-term R&I transformations for HEIs, university networks, and alliances. These transformations aim to address six key areas of the HEI transformation agenda: capacity, infrastructure, and resource sharing; researcher career attractiveness; collaboration with R&I ecosystem actors; open science; societal outreach; and gender equality.
