US Army leaders across the force must move faster and with more urgency to transform for the future fight, Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said. “America’s adversaries are not going to sit back and let the United States set the pace,” Wormuth said Oct. 14 in her keynote speech to open the Association of the U.S. Army’s 2024 Annual Meeting and Exposition. “Despite being the world’s best land fighting force, we need to start thinking and acting more like underdogs. We need to push ourselves to build a stronger culture of innovation inside the Army. We need to adopt a greater sense of urgency and accept greater risk.” #ReadMore: https://loom.ly/Xm-U4qk #AUSAorg #AUSA #USArmy #AUSA2024

The Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve are ready to meet evolving national and global threats, said Gen. Andrew Poppas, commander of U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM). “We saw flooding throughout the West, … record snowfall, tornadoes and wildfires throughout all of our communities,” Poppas said Oct. 14 in remarks at the Association of the U.S. Army’s 2024 Annual Meeting and Exposition. The reserve components’ response to these disasters “all sent one clear message: Your soldiers stand ready today to face whatever threats that come our way as a nation,” Poppas said. #ReadMore: https://loom.ly/OLJtH-k #AUSAorg #AUSA #USArmy #AUSA2024 #globalthreats #standready

If there’s one word to describe US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth’s tenure so far, it’s “transformation.” “We know we have to change,” she said in an interview in the Association of the U.S. Army’s 2024–2025 Green Book. “We need to go from an Army focused on counterinsurgency and counterterrorism to an Army focused on and ready for large-scale combat operations against near-peer, nation state-level threats.” #ReadMore: https://loom.ly/v4S-72Q #AUSAorg #AUSA #USArmy #AUSA2024

The US Army has launched a new website that gives soldiers a single access point to the service’s branch journals. Called Line of Departure, the website is designed to be a user-friendly site that provides soldiers with content in a web-first, mobile-friendly format, said Col. Todd Schmidt, director of Army University Press. Users will be able to download audio files and access several military podcasts and resources. There also is a search engine that’s optimized to elevate the importance of content for consumers, Schmidt said. #ReadMore: https://loom.ly/iJp_lmE #AUSAorg #AUSA #USArmy #journal

The demand for Army aviation is higher than it’s ever been, and it will be critical to continue modernizing the fleet. During more than two decades of counterinsurgency operations in the U. S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) area of operations, the Army’s combat aviation brigades deployed multiple times, “and we thought we were busy then,” Brig. Gen. Matt Braman, director of Army aviation in the office of the deputy Army chief of staff for operations, G-3/5/7, said during a Hot Topic on Army aviation hosted by the Association of the U.S. Army. #ReadMore: https://loom.ly/h4-pz6U #AUSAorg #AUSA #USArmy #armyaviation #aviation #hottopic

The Russia-Ukraine war underscores critical challenges for the U.S. Army, according to a new paper published by the Association of the U.S. Army. “In its third year since the 2022 invasion, the Russo-Ukrainian War shows few clear signs of abating,” authors Charles McEnany and retired Col. Daniel Roper write. “What many assumed would be a short, decisive war has become a test of endurance and adaptation. The U.S. Army is studying the conflict as it ‘continuously transforms’ for large-scale combat operations.” #ReadMore: https://loom.ly/y8viuo4 #AUSAorg #AUSA #USArmy #ukrainewar #futurefight #ukraine #russia
