About us
Originally opened as a vaudeville house in 1915, the historic Paramount Theatre has been a second home for generations upon generations of Austinites to gather, connect, and get inspired. The Paramount currently operates alongside the Stateside Theatre next door under the Austin Theatre Alliance (ATA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While we present hundreds of shows annually, the Paramount and Stateside Theatres are so much more than venues. The ATA reaches over 22,000 Central Texas students every year through award-winning Paramount Education programs both in classrooms and in the theatres; produces Moontower Just For Laughs Austin, one of the largest comedy festivals in the nation; hosts the star-studded world premieres of SXSW, Austin Film Festival, and beyond; programs the beloved Summer Classic Film Series, now in its 48th year; and works with experts to ensure the careful preservation of Austin history. The Paramount is one of only 20 theatres left in the entire country that is over 100 years old and still in use as a venue.

Over the last three days, the Paramount Education team welcomed over 1,500 Central Texas students to experience the magic of 123 Andrés at the State Theatre! 🎶✨ Each student and teacher took home custom-designed Activity Guides packed with fun, interactive, and educational activities to keep the excitement going. And this is just the beginning—over 18,000 students are projected to visit our theatres on field trips this year! There’s nothing like the electric energy of a field trip to the Paramount and State Theatres. It’s no wonder many of our staff say these are their favorite events of the year. We can’t wait to welcome your group to Congress Avenue soon! Check out the link to see all of the upcoming field trips and register your classroom: https://bit.ly/3BuIC1X

Thank you Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) for keeping Austin the Live Music Capital of the World! HAAM Day is more than a fundraiser! Now in its 19th year, HAAM Day is one of Austin’s most iconic celebrations of community and live music, raising awareness and critical funds for HAAM. Austinites can expect to hear tunes bouncing off the walls of their local bank lobbies, grocery stores, parks, restaurants, shops, and of course, live music venues. In addition to enjoying live music, we encourage our community to visit and patronize the hundreds of businesses that sponsor HAAM Day! Through your purchases and their pledge to donate a percentage of sales back to HAAM, you will be helping to keep music in Austin alive and well! 🔗 More info + make a pledge: https://bit.ly/3XTOgmK 📸: Kevin Garner Photography

We honored our amazing Paramount volunteer ushers Sunday at our annual Usher Appreciation Night. This year’s event comes after the close of an incredible Summer Classic Film Series during which ushers volunteered for nearly 800 shifts! Throughout the year ushers are recognized for their service, and the Usher Appreciation Night is our favorite way to express our gratitude for their many contributions. Approximately 273 ushers volunteer at the theatres, with years of service ranging up to 40+. For their invaluable year-round support Paramount CEO/Executive Director Jim Ritts said it best: “Our volunteer ushers are essential members of the Paramount family. For so many patrons, our ushers are the face of our theatres. They are the ones who welcome and guide every single person who walks through our front doors. Our ushers create a sense of familiarity and community for our guests. Simply put, the Paramount would not be the Paramount without our volunteer ushers." Thank you, Paramount Ushers! 🌟 📸: Kevin Garner Photography

125 films in 3 months. We laughed. We cried. We did the Time Warp. Together. Thank you for making our 50th annual Summer Classic Film Series extra special ✨ Whether you attended one film or 70 (somebody really did that!), we hope you felt the shared joy and excitement of hundreds of people gathered in a century-old movie palace to celebrate the movies together. We’ll be back in 2025 for the 51st iteration of the Summer Classic Film Series, but don’t Panic…we’ll see you again much sooner than that…👀🎃
