The Autism Society of America and the Autism Society of Texas are urgently appealing to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, to grant clemency to Mr. Robert Roberson, an Autistic individual, who is facing execution on October 17, 2024, for the death of his daughter Nikki, despite substantial evidence indicating her death was due to illness and not homicide. We urge Texans to sign and share our action alert to stop the execution of Robert Roberson: https://lnkd.in/etJPFfZQ Advocates who are not Texas residents can sign the petition at the Innocence Project here: https://lnkd.in/ghSY5Pyh

People with Autism might experience differences related to identifying, understanding, and regulating emotions because of the way their brains and bodies work. This can affect how they understand and react to their own body signals, affecting emotional regulation. Supporting emotional regulation is critical to meaningful inclusion and quality of life for Autistic people. Interested in learning more? With 1 in 36 children diagnosed with Autism, it's essential to ensure their safety in every environment, including schools. Individuals with Autism may experience heightened anxiety, stress, and unique reactions during chaotic situations, potentially leading them into greater danger. In response to news about Mason Schemerhorn, an Autistic 14-year-old boy that was killed in the Sept. 4 shooting at Apalachee High School, the Autism Society’s CMO, Kristyn Roth stated, “I worry about the safety of my loved ones every single day. As it relates to my brother with Autism, I want to help create a world in which he is included and respected and his safety is a priority.”https://bit.ly/3XpeXyt
