Public trust in AVs is essential to their acceptance, and the AV industry must earn and maintain that trust. We recognize we have important work to do, which is why the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association is unveiling the #TRUSTPrinciples and new initiatives to reinforce AV safety, transparency and responsible integration into communities. Torc hit the road in Texas last week, making stops with our autonomous trucks in Austin and Fort Worth! Thank you to the Texas Department of Transportation for having us at their AV and Drone Industry event and to the Innovation & Technology Caucus of the Texas Legislature for the opportunity to participate in its autonomous technology showcase at the Texas Capitol. We’re excited to talk about our autonomous operations in Texas as well as how we are prioritizing safety. We are also proactively working with first responders to make sure they have the information they need when they see our trucks on the roads. Collaboration and education remain essential to the success of autonomous trucking! #TorcDriven #Safety #TXDOT #InformConnectThink

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, a time to remember that safe driving starts with staying focused behind the wheel. But what if the driver never got distracted in the first place? #AutonomousVehicles are designed to eliminate human error, the leading cause of roadway crashes. That means no texting behind the wheel and no driving drowsy or impaired. Just safe, steady, and reliable driving.

With more than 40,000 lives lost on U.S. roads in 2023, the Washington Post recognizes what AVIA has long emphasized: #AutonomousVehicles don’t get distracted, drive impaired, or speed recklessly, and early data shows they are already reducing crash rates. The Post also highlighted AVIA’s federal policy framework, citing our call for clear federal guidelines for autonomous vehicle operation and safety that would offer a single national standard and a national safety data repository to provide a better view of crash incidents involving self-driving cars. It’s time to modernize policy and clear the path for AVs to make our roads safer, our economy stronger, and our communities more connected. 📄 Read the full editorial: https://lnkd.in/eTsi4a95

You likely know that I truly value face-to-face communication alongside digital comms. There's something transactional about digital that makes it harder to go deep on a topic. Participating in the Axios What's Next Summit brought the point home. Fellow hand-talker Joann Muller grilled me with questions on all things AVs, my Lyft driving experience, our many (!!) advantages other the other rideshare company, and how we can help address the loneliness epidemic. Her questions sharpened my thinking. Video here: https://lnkd.in/eQ4DSzPh

Lights, Sirens, and Autonomous Big Rigs! With new technology comes new opportunity. Our thanks to the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Brazos County Precinct 4 Fire Department for joining us at the Texas Transportation Institute to learn from each other. Autonomous Trucks and first responders are interacting with each other in a closed course training environment. This day and night session allows our vehicles to learn in real-life situations while providing invaluable insight to law enforcement and fire departments.

#AutonomousVehicles are already transforming how we move — reducing crashes, easing supply chain bottlenecks, and expanding mobility for millions. But without a national regulatory framework, America risks falling behind in the global race for AV innovation. That’s why AVIA has released a set of federal policy recommendations that serve as a clear, actionable roadmap for Congress and USDOT to lead. With smart, forward-looking policy, we can secure U.S. leadership in autonomous technology and build a future that’s safer, more efficient, and more connected for everyone.
