UTRC announces partnership with Waymo to develop autonomous vehicle training curriculum at CUNY Bronx Community College's Auto Tech Program. 🎓 Our initiative will prepare the next generation of automotive technicians for the rapidly evolving AV industry. 🔧 Dr. Camille Kamga, CCNY Grove School of Engineering professor and the director of UTRC and SEMPACT, emphasized: "As the USDOT Region 2 University Transportation Center, UTRC's (#SEMPACT) is uniquely positioned to facilitate this partnership. Through open communication, collaboration, and transparency, we aim to build confidence among all stakeholders and accelerate the responsible deployment of AVs. Freight-Only operations at scale is a groundbreaking goal in the industry, poised to revolutionize middle mile logistics with safe, reliable AI-driven autonomy. Central to this effort, we’ve engaged two agencies that, combined, provide the expert resourcing and independence necessary to assess safety - Edge Case Research to support development, deployment, and safety engineering assessment and separately, TÜV SÜD for third-party safety assessment services.
