As IAM reports: "Marking the first time a Japanese car brand has agreed to pay for a 5G patent licence from the platform, the agreement is another landmark achieved by the programme since its launch in August 2023." The article continues: "Moreover, Avanci’s 5G programme leader Laurie Fitzgerald has confirmed to IAM that, to her knowledge, every licensee in Avanci’s 4G programme that has shipped a 5G vehicle has already signed up to the 5G platform." Last month, Ilkka Rahnasto attended LESChina’s annual conference in Beijing, joining a panel discussing "New practice in advancing IP commercialization” ahead of our recent launch of Avanci Solutions. At the event, Ilkka was able to meet with licensing leaders and discuss the future across industries, as well as share some of what makes Avanci unique in the patent licensing space.

"While this is Avanci’s first venture outside the world of joint licensing programmes, it is not the company’s only new initiative of late. In fact, Avanci has expanded its activities significantly beyond its core focus – the licensing of cellular SEPs to automotive manufacturers – since the beginning of 2023. The organisation has launched half a dozen new joint licensing programmes since the beginning of last year, including pools operating entirely outside the automotive space."
