Eric L., Ayres’ IT director, reminds us to stay sharp against cyber threats, especially during Cybersecurity Awareness Month. With the increasing number of cyber threats, it’s crucial that we all stay vigilant and follow best practices to protect our personal and professional information. Here are some quick tips to keep your information safe: 1. Think passphrase, not passwords Create complex passphrases by using sentences from your favorite book. You can enhance your passphrase with CaSe SeNsiTiVe letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using the same password/passphrase for multiple accounts. Consider using a password manager to keep track of your passwords securely. 2. Be wary of phishing scams Always verify the sender’s email address before clicking on any links or downloading attachments. Look out for red flags such as spelling errors, urgent requests, or unfamiliar links. Report any suspicious emails to your IT department immediately. 3. Keep your software updated Don’t delay or interrupt your operating system, antivirus software, and applications updates. Enable automatic updates whenever possible to stay protected against the latest threats. 4. Use multi-factor authentication (MFA) Enable MFA on all accounts that offer it. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification. 5. Secure your devices Lock your computer and mobile devices when not in use. Use encryption to protect sensitive data on your devices. Avoid using public wi-fi for accessing confidential information. 6. Stay informed Keep yourself updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and best practices. Participate in all cybersecurity training sessions your company offers.

Staff from our Green Bay, WI, office (along with one helpful family member!) volunteered to hand-pack food donations the nonprofit Feed My Starving Children organization on Monday. Donations fund the meal ingredients, which are packed by volunteers and delivered to help children in need. In one two-hour shift, 381 people packed 410 boxes, which will feed 242 children for a year. This is one of the many ways Ayres staff show their #CommitmentToCommunity.
