🌟 In honor of #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth and National Latino Physicians Day (October 1), we're proud to highlight the work, career, and passion of ArMA member, Ricardo Correa MD,EdD,FACP,FACE, FAPCR,FACMQ,CMQ ! ❤️ Dr. Correa spent his early life in Panama before moving to the United States for residency. Now, Dr. Correa is a cornerstone of Arizona's medical community and the Arizona Medical Association, where he's been actively involved since 2017. As an academic "multihyphenate", he balances furthering his own medical education with teaching, inspiring, and leading the next generation of physicians. Dr. Correa serves as the Chair of ArMA's Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Taskforce. As well, on top of these responsibilities, Dr. Correa serves patients at the Phoenix U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System through his military service. 🎉Dr. Correa has received much acclaim for his constant fight for diversity, inclusion, and equity in medicine. It earned him a position within Cell Mentor Magazine's 2020 "100 Inspiring Hispanic/Latinx scientists in America." The recognition is nice, says Dr. Correa, "[but never] more important [than] doing what you love and [making] a difference". 🏛️University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix spotlighted Dr. Correa and his career for National Hispanic Heritage Month. And, ArMA had some further more questions for him! 🌟 Thank you to everyone who attended our Advocacy Town Hall this week. Led by ArMA's Advocacy Team, our annual open forum welcomed physicians to share their input on legislative priorities for the year ahead. We heard our members loud and clear! We'll be continuing our attention to critical issues like Arizona's healthcare workforce shortage, administrative burdens, and insurer transparency. Our annual town hall is a key part of ArMA's member-driven advocacy strategy. With the physician community's input in hand, ArMA is crafting a strategic, formidable plan for the 2025 Legislative Session. Thank you to ArMA President Nadeem Kazi, MD, Legislative & Governmental Affairs Committee Chair Heidi Tavel, and Director of Government Relations Amanda Sheinson for leading us through this important discussion. 🗣️ What aspect of healthcare policy are you focused on as the 2025 Legislative Session approaches? Shed light on your concerns in the comments below. #arizonaadvocacy #arizonamedicine #azpolitics #azdoctors #healthcare #azhealthcare #workforceshortage

ArMA is sounding the alarm on Arizona's dire healthcare workforce shortage. ArMA CEO Libby De Bie, CAE recently spoke with ABC15 Arizona about Governor Katie Hobbs' newly-established Workforce Cabinet, which seeks to create workforce solutions for all industries, including healthcare. Solutions are sorely needed. Arizona is expected to be short by more than 4,000 physicians in 2032. The growing shortage will continue to impact healthcare in Arizona, especially in rural areas of the state. Patients' access to care is becoming more and more jeopardized every day. ArMA is spearheading efforts to swiftly address the shortage, including the distribution of grant funding for medical education and legislation to fund workforce improvement at no cost to taxpayers. However, more support is needed. ArMA applauds Gov. Hobbs for focusing much needed attention on an issue impacting us all. We look forward to collaborating with her & her cabinet. https://lnkd.in/gKGCa6P5 #AZHealthcare #HealthcareWorkforce #TalentReadyAZ #ABC15News #AZMedicine #GovHobbs
