Hot-dip galvanizing plays a vital role in enhancing the durability and sustainability of commercial greenhouse structures, as demonstrated in the Ridge Farms project in Kingsville, Ontario. Constructed by Universal Fabricating, this 486,000-square-foot greenhouse benefits from galvanized steel, which extends its service life and reduces maintenance. By choosing HDG, Universal ensures its structures withstand harsh weather and chemical exposure while reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainability. Beyond the main framework, hot-dip galvanizing protects critical components like support brackets, base plates, ventilation frames, and irrigation systems, ensuring long-term performance. Universal Fabricating’s use of HDG sets the standard for greenhouse design, delivering a durable, cost-effective solution that supports the future of horticulture in Ontario and beyond. Genesis Trailers in Holland, Michigan, stands as a leader in marine trailer innovation, focusing on durability and long-term performance in challenging maritime environments. Central to their success is the use of hot-dip galvanizing on every trailer, which provides comprehensive corrosion protection. This process safeguards the steel from rust and deterioration through sacrificial cathodic protection, a durable barrier coating, and the formation of a protective zinc patina. In collaboration with AZZ Galvanizing - Plymouth, Genesis has refined their trailer designs to include efficient venting and drainage systems, ensuring uniform coating and a high-quality finish. The result is a cost-effective solution that extends trailer lifespans, minimizes maintenance needs, and delivers reliable performance—qualities that make Genesis Trailers a trusted choice for maritime applications. Hot-dip galvanizing was essential in ensuring the durability and reliable performance of the new overland conveyor system at the Henderson County Mine in Kentucky. Designed to withstand harsh mining conditions, the system faces significant challenges, including exposure to moisture, extreme weather, and the corrosive nature of coal. Galvanizing provided exceptional protection against these challenges, offering superior abrasion resistance, longer maintenance intervals, and durability in rugged environments. By significantly reducing the risk of corrosion and minimizing the need for costly and complex future maintenance, hot-dip galvanizing emerged as the most cost-effective and sustainable solution for this intricate network of conveyors and supporting infrastructure. One million pounds of material, including legs, frame channels, and return idlers, were hot-dip galvanized by AZZ Galvanizing - Nashville for this ambitious project. This critical infrastructure will enable the Henderson County Mine to efficiently transport coal to the Ohio River, supporting the region’s vital coal industry and the 260 workers expected to join the operation in 2025. Thanks to the use of galvanized components, the conveyor system is poised to reliably serve Kentucky’s mining operations for decades, reinforcing the importance of hot-dip galvanizing in industrial projects of this scale. The AZZ Galvanizing - Houston Care Team recently organized a toy drive to support Magnolia’s Toy Drive, a community program that ensures children in need receive gifts during the Christmas season. Magnolia’s Toy Drive goes beyond just delivering toys—it brings the community together with a festive parade through the neighborhood. After the parade, families gather at a local park to enjoy food, fun, and photos with Santa. The donated toys are then distributed to the children, spreading smiles and holiday cheer. Through their support, the AZZ Houston Care Team has once again shown their commitment to making a positive impact in the community. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this holiday season brighter for local children!

We are excited to celebrate AZZ team member - Kevin Upchurch! 🙌 Kevin has been a part of the AZZ team for nearly six years, showcasing an inspiring journey of internal career growth. He started his career path at AZZ Inc. as a Learning Consultant in 2019, transitioning to Operations Manager in 2020, and ultimately earning a well-deserved promotion to Plant Manager by December 2022 at our Hurst, Texas plant! Kevin's shift from the corporate world to an operations role at the plant was ultimately driven by his previous extensive background in the operations field and seeing the work in the plants which inspired him to reignite the spark and return to his career roots. He relays that: "Prior to learning and development, I spent about 10 years in the oil and gas industry with most of that being in an operations role. Operations is where I felt most at home. At that point, I had visited the Hurst plant a couple of times. When they had an open position and asked me if I was interested, I let both the Hurst plant as well as my manager know that this is something I wanted to pursue. My manager was very supportive, helped me along the way, and just overall wanted me to succeed." He encourages anyone wanting to grow in their career to be open about their goals with their supervisor, and notes that, "Everyone I’ve worked with at AZZ has been supportive and wants to see you succeed. They’ll help you get to where you want to be." Kevin's career journey is truly remarkable, and we commend his past and present managers for providing the support he needed to make a transition that perfectly aligned with his passion and purpose. In supporting Kevin's pursuit of his career dreams, AZZ has not only gained and retained a valuable skillset but also an exceptional individual whose character and zeal for teamwork embodies the TRAITS and values that we cherish at AZZ. Here's to Kevin and all he has contributed throughout his time here at AZZ! 🎉 ⭐If you have a coworker you'd like to nominate for the next growth spotlight - email us at HRCommunications@azz.com ⭐
