The success of the game means that they are now starting to experience more of what the men have become used to – a press and public obsession with what goes on behind closed doors. A hugely important part of our work is in supporting the future generation in women's football. Recently Leigh Nicol visited the talented young girls at Leicester City Football Club as part of our work with Loughborough College.
Last week was exhausting, rewarding, emotional and uplifting. Matt Himsworth was at Melwood with the Liverpool FC women's first team and then travelled to Ipswich with Shaun Whiter for a heart-warming homecoming for Shaun to deliver to some of the young players he coached at under 13s level a few years back and it was then on to Leicester City where Leigh Nicol delivered a searingly honest session to the club's young female players on some of the abuse and risks that come with the growth of the women's game and ... all the while Fraser Franks' recovery from open heart surgery continues as he gets stronger every day and so he went to see his mate Steven Reid after a little cameo on talkSPORT. Phew! What a week!
