Historically small-scale agriculture has been the backbone of our food production system. Yet still, when I tell people about Babylon Micro-Farms… Many are quick to say that it’s all just a “trend”. But in 2023 alone, modular farming solutions created significant shifts: 👉🏻 Small farms made up 28-31% of total crop production. 👉🏻 Producing 30-34% of the world’s food supply. 👉🏻 On 24% of gross agricultural area. These tools are revolutionizing the way we grow, develop, and sustain fresh food. (Which doesn’t seem like a trend to me 🤷🏻) For Babylon & I, we believe more and more consumers will begin to utilize this technology across the world. All because it’s becoming more & more available. (By 2027, smart agriculture technology will roughly have a $33 billion US market value, up from $15 billion in 2022.) This innovation is opening doors for all involved. And soon, these indoor farming solutions will be an essential component of our food supply chain's infrastructure. Creating a more resilient and sustainable future.

How most people see Farm-To-Table: - Crops grow on farms. - Farmer packages them. - They are shipped to a restaurant. - Meal is served fresh on your plate. The reality of Farm-to-Table is very different: - Crops grow on farms. - They are extensively packaged to preserve freshness. - They travel 1,500+ miles to you. - The process emits a heavy amount of carbon. - The cost of the food rises due to logistics costs. - You get wilted veg on your plate. In concept, Farm-To-Table sounds great. (And it is) The issue is that it currently takes a long journey, often up to 1500 miles, to get from the farm to your table. (That’s the same distance as flying from London to Rome.) Your food shouldn’t need to travel that far. Which is why we are so excited about on-site vertical farming. It presents an opportunity for businesses and communities to become more self-sufficient and grow their own produce! Technology is revolutionizing the farm-to-table movement. It’s time we embraced the changes and enjoyed fresher, safer food.

Micro-Farms are an important part of the emerging indoor farming ecosystem… They require: - Less land. - Less water. - Fewer resources. They are: - Efficient. - Accessible. - Sustainable. They can be set up in: - Urban areas. - Inside buildings. - Community Spaces. This is without even mentioning: ✅ Their resilience ↳ Pests or diseases can wipe out a single crop on a large farm. But on a Micro-Farm, diverse crops can be grown. ✅ They are good for the economy ↳ They create local jobs and keep money in the community. ✅ They are healthier ↳ They provide fresh, healthy food right at our doorstep. Micro-Farms are not just about growing food. They are about growing communities, growing economies, and growing a sustainable future. The future of agriculture is not in the vast fields of monocultures. It's in the small, diverse, resilient micro-farms. Here’s an image of Micro-Farms built into a teaching kitchen that’s designed to educate and inspire healthier consumers!
