28 years ago, fresh out of college, Jason Ellis interviewed and became our first employee in Quality Control. Since then, he’s been a key part of the team and continues to work as Assistant Quality Control Manager. Quality Control Division Manager Randy Funderburg and Quality Control Tech Bryan Hutto describe Jason as not only a coworker but a true friend. Crushin' with James and Tomas! 💪 #AsphaltIsGreen The material you see here is old, milled roadways brought back to our recycling yard. This Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) is fed into the stationary crusher and fractionated into coarse and fine materials. These materials are then used to create new asphalt for roadways across the Lowcountry. 📍 N. We hope everyone is staying safe after the weather brought by Hurricane Helene. Fortunately, it held off just long enough for Charleston County to celebrate the successful groundbreaking of the Main Rd. Corridor I Segment A Project yesterday morning. Among the attendees were representatives from Charleston County, Archer Western, United Infrastructure Group, and Banks Construction, who were present to officially break ground on this long-awaited addition to the community here in the Lowcountry. The design-build contract was awarded to the Archer-United-Banks Joint Venture on September 10th of this year, and the project is expected to be completed within four years of commencement. After the groundbreaking, Banks Construction's VP of Project Management Operations Greg Cook shared the team's excitement for being a part of this important community project: "Banks Construction is super excited to land, once again, the biggest project that we have ever had. Banks is part of a tri-venture with Archer Western and United Infrastructure Group, and together we will be tackling a 350 million dollar project for Charleston County. We had the kick-off meeting this week and we had a groundbreaking this morning. It's going to be a great project for the residents of Johns Island and all of the people that live on Kiawah, and it's really going to change people's lives. We are looking forward to working with everybody and being a team and kind of getting the band back together because a lot of us have worked together before, so it should be a great project for everybody involved, and we're really excited to get started." For James Myzell and Tomas Adames, operational excellence and teamwork are what it's all about at the stationary crusher these past few weeks - plus some good laughs and fun along the way. Operations Group Manager Blake Banks shares: "James and Tomas are relatively new to Banks Construction Company, but they epitomize our values. They make a fantastic team at our stationary crusher in North Charleston, ensuring it's safe, clean, maintained, and productive. We’re excited to have them on board and can’t wait to see what they accomplish for the rest of 2024!" Meet Nate Hubbart, a Fuel Truck Driver at Banks. Originally from Colorado Springs, Nate played baseball for the Summerville Greenwaves and earned his degree from Charleston Southern University. A St. Louis Cardinals fan, he's also passionate about building race cars and is currently restoring a 1974 Chevy Caprice. Nate's been with Banks for over a year and a half, and currently fuels the equipment at night, helping to ensure our teams set up for success each day. We're excited to celebrate him this week, and thankful for his hardwork and all he does. Todays Truck Driver Appreciation Spotlight is on Tack Truck Driver Eddie Peeples. Eddie's been a part of the Banks team since 2015 and a part of the construction industry for almost 43 years. His favorite thing to do on the job is train our new tack truck drivers. For anyone who’s unfamiliar with tack, tack is what's placed on the road way surface, as a binder, before the asphalt is placed. Eddie takes great pride in the work that he does, and sets the standard of what being a tack truck driver is all about. Thank you for your dedication and hard work, Eddie. The Transportation Division wouldn’t be the same without you, and our trainees are lucky to have you as a trainer. A fun fact about Eddie: He’s a South Carolina Gamecocks fan 🤙 and enjoys riding motorcycles, bowling, playing pool, and spending time on the lake. Earlier this year, we shared a Military Retirement Story about our dedicated liquid tanker driver, Mr. Johnny Hughey. https://lnkd.in/eyPvTrpB Today, we wanted to share a little more on the special team member Johnny is as we celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Johnny came to Banks over a year and a half ago and starts his day at 3:30 am every morning to ensure the plants receive the materials they need to keep operations moving. He's a devoted family man, with a wife, 6 children, and 17 grandchildren and outside of work, enjoys riding motorcycles and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and the Florida Gators. We appreciate all Johnny has done for our team so far, and are proud to work alongside him each and every day. #NTDAW #NTDAW24 #TruckDriverAppreciation #LiquidAsphalt #Driver #TruckDriver #Asphalt #AsphaltPlant #Transportation #Highlight #HardWorkDedication #Construction #ConstructionWorker #ConstructionIndustry #TeamWork #Family #CommitmentToExcellence #BanksAsphalt #SC #BanksConstructionCompany #PavingTheWaySince1948
