The Preeminent Peer Leadership Network of Bay Area Chief Information Security Officers
About us
BayAreaCISO is the preeminent peer leadership network of Chicagoland chief information security officers. Our membership is comprised exclusively of CISOs (or equivalent executive roles) from public and private companies, government, education, healthcare and nonprofit organizations. Our mission is to build a strong, professional community among Bay Area's information technology leaders, by providing a forum to share ideas, best practices and experiences relevant to CISOs. We create opportunities for technology leaders to engage in substantive, issues-based discussion related to their industries and profession. Members benefit by collaborating with others, building meaningful relationships, and promoting professional development through executive events that facilitate valuable interaction among senior-level experts. MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATION Members must be a Bay Area CISO or equivalent senior technology leader for an organization with at least $100 million annual revenue. Organizations over $1 billion qualify for a second membership and organizations over $5 billion may enroll a third member – provided the organization’s primary technology leader is a member in good standing. ABOUT THE ORBIE AWARDS Established in 1998, the ORBIE® Awards is the premier technology executive recognition program in the United States. This annual event honors chief information security officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.

Never let a good crisis go to waste… - Admiral Mike Rogers. Inspire Leadership Network Had a thought-provoking discussion with Admiral Mike Rogers, former Director of the NSA, on the crucial leadership lessons that arise during tough times. His insights underscored the significance of teamwork and collaboration in navigating today’s intricate cybersecurity landscape. Key takeaways: - 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Strong leadership and collaboration drive meaningful outcomes; technology alone falls short. - 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬: Prioritize positive business results, ensuring technology aligns with broader organizational goals. - 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐕𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: Proactive vulnerability management is vital amidst rising cybersecurity threats. - 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭: View technology and cyber roles as value centers contributing to overall success, not just cost centers. - 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬: Challenges breed opportunities for improvement and innovation; maintaining the status quo is not an option. - 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: Nurturing the next-gen leaders is key to equip them for upcoming challenges. Admiral Rogers’ perspective reminds us of our collective duty to lead purposefully and build robust connections within our communities. Together, cultivating innovative ideas and strategies will grow and support our collective defense efforts. #CollectiveDefese #Converge25 DallasCISO | BayAreaCISO | CarolinaCISO

Standing Strong Together: Tech Day of Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness 💗 Today, I am reflecting on how breast cancer touches so many lives and the urgency for a cure. It was a special honor to support this cause during the inaugural BayAreaCISO #ORBIE Awards, and I am grateful to be part of a community that stands together in moments like this. #TechDayInPink2024, raises awareness, support, and essential funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. What began as an initiative led by Michael Smith, CIO of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. has blossomed into a global movement uniting the tech industry to help end breast cancer. Every post using #TechInPink2023 and #TimeToEndBreastCancer unlocks donations from companies dedicated to this life-saving cause. This cause is close to my heart. I am inspired by the incredible women who have bravely faced and overcome breast cancer, finding that the greatest gift after their journey is the chance to fully enjoy life with loved ones. Let’s honor those still fighting, celebrate survivors, and remember those we’ve lost. 💞 Whether it’s wearing pink, sharing a post, or offering comfort to someone affected, every action counts. Thank you to my Inspire Leadership Network family for standing with me in support of this important cause. #TechDayofPink2024 #TimeToEndBreastCancer #BreastCancerAwareness #InspireLeadershipNetwork BayAreaCISO | DallasCISO | CarolinaCISO
