On Monday, we celebrated our furry friends with a fun contest to crown the cutest dog at Baylor Frisco. After much deliberation (because all 85 were too cute!), we randomly drew a winner, and Gizmo Montany, owned by George Montany of our Information Systems department, took home the crown! The day was made even more special by a visit from Marty Cribbins, owned by Dr. A. Joseph "Joe" Cribbins III, MD, and Heather Cribbins. Marty is no stranger to hospitals, as he spends most of his days in the office with his mom and dad. He also comforts nervous patients before surgery. And Marty even has his own Instagram! Beach Day at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Frisco! We brought the beach to the hospital to celebrate the end of summer and show appreciation for our incredible staff! Our team had a blast with refreshing, non-alcoholic frozen drinks, umbrellas, leis, and a fun photo selfie station with a beach backdrop! The day was topped off with a round of bingo, where staff had the chance to win some fantastic prizes. Thank you to our hardworking team for all you do. As an industry, healthcare is plagued by shortages across the board, and across the care continuum. To put it plainly, there are too few of [everything], and any of the following disciplines apply: nurses, doctors, medical assistants, CSTs, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, laboratory professionals (MTs/MLTs/Blood Bank, Phlebotomists), physical therapists, speech therapists, radiology technologists. This is merely a sampling--the list of reported 'shortages' is far more expansive. On an annual basis, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Frisco assembles a Community Needs Assessment to quantify physician needs within our immediate service area. This analysis, among other things, informs not only our business planning activities; it likewise influences our ongoing physician recruitment strategies. Case in point: meet Dr. Jonathan Korpon, a new otolaryngologist with Collin County ENT. Dr. Korpon joined Collin County ENT in early August and his arrival will most certainly address a very real and substantial need within our community.
