Recently, our team of therapists from our Grapevine center volunteered at the Baylor Scott & White Grapevine Cancer Survivors Event. Emily Flannery P.T., DPT, CLT gave a presentation on cancer-related lymphedema to survivors, their families and healthcare professionals. Our team also educated survivors on the importance of therapy during and after cancer treatment. We offered grip strength and single-leg balance tests to help attendees compare their results to age-related norms.

Congratulations to our very own Anna Mangano, P.T., DPT, Center Manager of the Frisco Main location. As a board certified Neurological Clinical Specialist, Vestibular Certified Clinician and LSVT BIG Certified Clinician, Anna was given the opportunity to present at the Barany Society's International Conference in Uppsala, Sweden. "I presented my own research on how transdisciplinary teams improve recovery time and cost for care for vestibular patients,” said Anna. “Working closely with a team improves recovery time by five visits (approximately one month of care) and saves an average of $1,200/patient care episode." The Bárány Society was founded in 1960 to honor the legacy of the pioneering scientist and Nobel laureate Robert Bárány. Way to go Anna!

It was an honor to share our expertise with abc's Good Morning America this week. Check out the article where ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation Director of Research Kelley Wood discussed the important role we play in helping patients regain strength and manage lymphedema after their breast cancer diagnosis. The article focuses on the latest study that shows the benefits of strength training under the guidance of specially-trained cancer rehabilitation therapists. Our team continues to follow and contribute to the latest research in cancer rehabilitation to help more patients get back to what matters most. #BreastCancerAwareness #CancerRehab #LymphedemaManagement #StrengthAfterCancer
