About us
Bayou Bend is a joint venture owned by Chevron, TotalEnergies and Equinor to develop a carbon capture and storage facility in Southeast Texas. The project is the first offshore stratigraphic well for carbon capture and storage in U.S. state waters and has the potential to reduce emissions from regional industrial facilities by sequestering carbon dioxide (CO2) safely and permanently underground.

H&P was proud to collaborate with Bayou Bend CCS on drilling their first onshore stratigraphic well. “From rig onboarding to final execution, this collaboration showcased how H&P works with customers to execute on their goals,” said Joel Ruark, regional director of operations for H&P’s east region. “The rig crew completed a large scope of work to help Bayou Bend successfully drill their first onshore stratigraphic well.”

At Bayou Bend CCS LLC, we are aiming to lead the carbon capture and storage industry in Southeast Texas. We recently reached two project milestones by beginning drilling operations on our offshore and onshore stratigraphic wells. The expanded Bayou Bend project has nearly 140,000 acres of pore space for permanent CO2 sequestration where CO2 will be stored more than a mile underground and held in place by thick, impermeable rocks deep under the surface. #BayouBendCCS #LowerCarbon #CCS
