'For the first time in years, I rode the bus for a job interview. I had 3 transfers, all of which fell underneath the original payment of $2.00 which gave me unlimited rides for 4 hours straight. I had just attended a transportation webinar by the City of Detroit a month or so prior and the most common complaint people had during the discussion was, ‘having somewhere warm and safe to stand while waiting for the bus’. I only personally had that $2.00, one 4 hour unlimited bus pass to get back and forth home so for me it was personally thinking, ‘God’? I need my car fixed’ and ‘what about the people who are like me but in even tighter circumstances financially, which it is pretty tight’. It made me think while I was waiting in the cold morning hours that to me a free 99 society for everyone makes the most sense and then we figure out the rest. While I know this is not realistic yet, the last few years of my life have set me on a course to figure out what ‘basics of life’ (food, clothing, shelter, transportation, medical care, etc.) need to be free to some extent or at least a certain amount (enough to survive). What is most necessary to be ‘free of cost’ (out of pocket would be a better description) and support legislature, policy and groups working towards these goals....' #beautifymyborders #masstransit #transportation #masstransportation #city #municipality #communityovercompetition #communities #communitymarketplace
