BIFA, Servicing the Autism Community with Love.

About us

BIFA has one goal; to provide experienced and trained therapists that parents can turn to every step of the way. Parents try to get the best services for their child. BIFA is here to help. With Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and behavior intervention programs, a child diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder can be helped. We work to put together a solid therapy program, individualized for each client, addressing many areas of need. Our therapists are trained by nationally recognized leaders and institutions. Our goal is to give support to each child in order for them to generalize the skills independently in their environment and help them achieve optimum success throughout life. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a specific form of behavior modification. It is defined as the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree, and to demonstrate that the interventions employed are responsible for the improvement of behavior. By functionally assessing the relationship between a targeted behavior and the environment, the methods of ABA can be used to change that behavior. This can include going to the park, museum or zoo. 🐅 ⠀ Allowing your child the opportunity to choose their own summer activity can allow them to more effectively make choices going forward. • We're heading into birthday party season as summer approaches!🎈 ⠀ If your little one is having a birthday party coming up, it's important to keep these following tips in mind to make sure everything goes smoothly. ⠀ Parties of any kind can be very stressful for kids with autism so here are five reminders that can help when planning an autism-friendly party that all kids will enjoy... ⠀ 1️⃣ Keep it short and sweet - Parties, especially for kids with autism, can quickly become overwhelming. Limit the duration to ensure everyone stays comfortable and engaged. 🎂 ⠀ 2️⃣ Pick a comfortable location - Choose a venue that is familiar and sensory-friendly for the birthday child. Consider factors like noise level, lighting, and space for movement. ⠀ 3️⃣ Carefully plan the activities - structure the party with activities that cater to diverse interests and sensory needs. Provide options for both quiet and active play to accommodate all guests. ⠀ 4️⃣ Decide the best way to give gifts - some children with autism may feel overwhelmed by the tradition of opening gifts in front of others. Respect their preferences by offering alternative options like opening presents privately or after the party. 🧸 ⠀ 5️⃣ Consider treat alternatives - be mindful of dietary restrictions and sensory sensitivities when planning treats. Opt for alternative options like allergen-friendly snacks or non-food items to ensure all guests can indulge safely. ⠀ Discover more ideas here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d8WjBBm5#Autism #AutismAwareness #AutismFamily #AutismSupport #AutismSpectrumDisorder #ABATherapy

  • Deep breathing can be a great way to manage sensory overload. 🌬️ ⠀ If you can successfully show your child that a relaxation method like this will prevent and stop meltdowns, and they'll be more inclined to try it out. ⠀ Start by having a conversation and showing them how to take deep breaths to calm themselves down. Then let them know that they can use this technique anytime there is an unexpected change in routine or a sensory overload. ⠀ Find out more about how ABA Therapy can assist 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/ewMUE7ft#Autism #AutismAwareness #AutismFamily #AutismSupport #AutismSpectrumDisorder #ABATherapy

  • Today is National Sushi Day! 🍣 ⠀ Here is a recipe for an easy-to-make handroll sushi, also known as temaki sushi: ⠀ Ingredients ⠀ -Cooked Sushi Rice: Use short grain sushi rice such as nishiki or koshihikari -Sushi Vinegar: Substitute with 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar, 1 tsp sugar and a pinch of salt if you don't have it. 🧂 -Nori Seaweed Sheets: Usually labelled as nori, yakinori or roasted seaweed sheets. -Fillings: You don't need sashimi-grade fish, but can instead use canned tuna, shredded chicken or even veggies as filling. Play around and be creative! 🐟 ⠀ Method ⠀ 1. Transfer cooked sushi rice to a wide, flat-bottomed dish. Pour the sushi vinegar over the cooked rice and mix gently with a flat rice paddle to avoid breaking any of the grains. Allow the rice to cool completely before serving. 🥢 ⠀ 2. Take up a sheet of nori and place it in your hand or on a plate. Top with a scoop of rice in the top left corner in a roughly triangular shape. ⠀ 3. Then layer with your chosen fillings. Fold the bottom left corner up and over the fillings, then continue to roll into a cone shape. ⠀ Enjoy making your handrolls and eating them together as a family! ⠀ #Recipes #SushiDay #Activities #ABATherapy

  • Check out some of our fun summer outdoor activities. ⠀ In addition to the ones listed in the slide, we have a few more ideas here: ⠀ 🐷 Petting zoos - Visit a petting zoo, farm, or animal sanctuary where your child can interact with animals. Many kids with autism love being around animals. ⠀ 🔎 Scavenger hunt - Create a scavenger hunt through nature with a list of items for your child to find outdoors. This can include leaves, flowers, rocks, or wildlife sightings. ⠀ 🏕️ Family campouts - Plan a backyard camping adventure or go camping at a nearby campground. You can set up tents, roast marshmallows, and tell stories around the campfire. ⠀ What are you going to be doing this summer with your child? Share with us below. 👇🏼 ⠀ #SummerActivities #ABATherapy #Inclusion #AutismAwareness #Autism
