Congratulations to BDPA client Related California on the grand opening of the first phase of Sugar Pine Village, a transformative development providing critical affordable housing for South Lake Tahoe's workforce. This project is part of Governor Newsom's Executive Order to build housing on state-owned surplus land and utilized modular construction to continue building during Tahoe's harsh winter season. Exciting to see innovative solutions addressing urgent housing needs!   We look forward to our continued partnership with the Related team as we collaborate to address the state's urgent housing needs.

BergDavis proudly organized an Oakland City Council Candidate Forum for the Port of Oakland community last night, in partnership with Marine Engineers Beneficial Association and the International Longshore Warehouse Union on behalf of our client SSA Marine, which spearheads the Oakland Maritime Access, Sustainability, and Trade (O-MAST) coalition along with Pacific Merchant Shipping Association. Thank you to PMSA President Mike Jacob and ILWU Business Agent Demetrius Williams for moderating the discussion, which provided an excellent opportunity for Port stakeholders to hear where candidates stand on the issues most important to the future of the Port of Oakland and its critical role as the hub of Northern California’s regional economy.

BergDavis joined our client San Francisco Bar Pilots last Friday for a pilot vessel ride and viewing of Fleet Week from the San Francisco Bay. Aside from showing off the beauty of the Bay that the Bar Pilots are constantly navigating, this event provided a great opportunity to engage with legislators and staff in attendance, including Assembly Member Lori D Wilson, on the significant impact SFBP has on our regional supply chain and on the protection of the Bay and its associated waterways.

BergDavis client Hiba Academy Bay Area, a new Pre-K-5 Chinese-English bilingual school, has hit the ground running in San Francisco! Hiba is actively planning for a fall 2026 opening, recently filing zoning legislation for its new home at 99 Rhode Island following a successful community meeting with its Showplace Square neighbors. With BDPA's help, Hiba Academy has already garnered incredible interest from prospective parents and multiple media features, including two recent pieces in local Chinese-language media. Congratulations to BergDavis client San Francisco Bar Pilots on the passage of Senate Bill 295, which creates more flexibility for the Bar Pilots to fund future pilot vessels. We look forward to continuing to work with SFBP and the State of California to keep our supply chain moving while meeting the state's ambitious emissions goals.

Last night we welcomed friends, clients, and our new colleagues from San Diego and across California to our new offices to celebrate our 25th anniversary and recent merger with Southwest Strategies Group. It was a lovely evening spent commemorating these remarkable milestones (and for our San Diego colleagues, cheering on the Padres!).   We wouldn’t be celebrating this new era without the impressive roster of clients and colleagues who’ve chosen to work with us, trust in us, and challenge us. And we want to give a special shout out to all the BergDavis staff and alumni whose talents have contributed mightily to the success of the firm.
