An Inupiaq writer from Unalakleet, Ivanoff was recognized for her work in the Western-based independent magazine High Country News. The James Beard Awards recognizes leaders in the culinary and food media industries and those in the broader food systems. Ivanoff's pieces include: A Meal of Many Seasons - A beautiful exploration of the culinary customs of a Native supper. Subsistence Abundance - A poignant piece on the impact of the loss of salmon runs on Native communities. Good Ice - An insightful look at the critical role of sea ice in the food ecosystem of Western Alaska. As a talented freelance writer, Ivanoff has also contributed to the Anchorage Daily News and received the Alaska Governor's Arts and Humanities Award in 2019.
