About us

Wouldn't it be great if you could • Increase lease rates • Increase asset value • Increase employee/tenant productivity • Increase indoor comfort • Lower overhead/Higher profits • Improve building performance I help businesses lower their CODB by lowering or eliminating their energy bill. As an energy general contractor, we get buildings to net zero as quickly, efficiently and cheaply as possible. In working with Thermal Insulation Coatings, I have developed a fairly good knowledge of building science. Building envelopes manage heat, air, water and humidity. The TIC's I work with also modulate those. Knowing how they work together, or not, is important for the health of your building. We plug the leaks, increase efficiency and give people on site power generation, all with extensive incentives and potential in house financing. Ideal for businesses who own their own building or building owners. My specialty is heat & corrosion management, especially roof restoration. My TICs either keep surfaces (roof) cool or contain heat on process equipment while preventing CUI. The roof coating consistently gives 20%-30% energy reduction as a stand-alone product, sometimes more. I also work with an exceptionally effective and highly tested corrosion encapsulation coating called Rust Grip. There's plenty of really interesting details if you like to nerd out case studies like me. So don't forget to ask. We currently work with large chains in the hospitality industry. We would like to work with single or multi location businesses across the country and here in Colorado, to help improve margins and resilience. • If energy costs are within margins, why optimize for it? Because businesses reduce expenses and increase revenue whenever possible. Besides, your business deserves all the upside potential it brings. "CRE organizations that adopt and invest in [ESG] strategies will see improved asset values, better financing options, better quality tenants, lower operating costs, stronger employee engagement, healthier communities, and a greatly reduced carbon footprint. Doesn’t get much better than that".  – Channing Gibson, CREJ article The benefits are multi dimensional. For buildings with opaque walls, a solid color thermal barrier coating will go further and do more for the building with less fuss than other alternatives. There is no comparison. Period. DM me to see how we can help reinvent your building. #energyconsultant #envelopeconsultant #sustainability #energyefficiency #facilitymanagement #roofcoatings

  • Considering a building’s entire lifespan, renovating an existing building has significantly lower carbon emissions over its whole life cycle, including operational and embodied carbon, Hu said. As a result, demolishing an existing building to construct a new one makes little sense from an environmental perspective, even if that new building is more energy efficient. An analysis of embodied carbon in over 1 million buildings in Chicago led by Hu and Ph.D. student Siavash Ghorbany reveals that increasing the average lifespan of buildings from 50 years to 75 or 80 years and reducing building size by 20% can cut their overall carbon emissions by two-thirds. The type of retrofit or renovation being considered largely depends on the building owner’s objectives, though, Hu said. “If the goal is to enhance energy efficiency and achieve long-term cost savings, upgrading the HVAC system and improving the building envelope should be prioritized,” Hu said. I know a guy that can help with that. DM me for contact details. https://lnkd.in/gfeduMYN #HVAC #buildingenvelope #embodiedcarbon #facilityservices #decarbonization #propertymanagement

  • Better Painting & Coatings in now offering Total Envelope Performance with the knock out combo of Super Therm and newly added air leak auditing as a member of the Building Envelope Audit Team (BEAT). The DOE reports that 40%-60% of energy use is wasted through the building envelope. SPI Coatings reports through decades of use, buildings decrease total energy use 20%-30% after using their cool roof / radiative cooling coating Super Therm. Conservatively that's a 60% demand side energy reduction. Both ECMs have an under 5 year ROI. Well worth the investment. This can be done with full operation/no shut down. A win for all parties. #innovation #sustainability #roofing #coolroofcoatings #facilityservices #facilitymaintenance #propertymaintenance

Heat Neutralizer 🔥 Blocking heat for 35 years with insulation coatings for energy savings, reduce CO2, CUI, UHI & cooler, safer spaces. Cool roofs to hot pipes to fire protection with Super Therm® & HPC®.

Interesting article on solar panels warming up the city during the day and cooling down at night. Creating cool photovoltaic systems with cool roofs! "During a hot day with a heatwave, rooftop photovoltaic solar panels (RPVSPs) alter the urban energy budget, leading to a maximum increase of 241.6 W m−2 in Qsensible and a significant rise in Qlatent (35.3 W m−2). Maximum increase of heat flux and changes of heat flux have also been calculated." "RPVSPs increase Tambient by 1.5 °C during the day but cause a slight decrease (0.6 °C) at night." Sydney (−0.8 °C to 1.9 °C), Austin (−0.7 °C to 1.8 °C), Kolkata (−0.6 °C to 1.5 °C), Athens (−0.4 °C to 1.2 °C) and Brussels (−0.3 °C to 1.1 °C) "...creating cool photovoltaic systems that operate at lower temperatures, thereby reducing heat emissions into urban environments. Increasing roof reflectance through the use of cool roofs or super cool roofs in urban installations of RPVSPs could significantly boost the energy production of solar panels." Read the article: https://lnkd.in/gr3t67gg Super Therm cools during the day and remains stable at night as the City of Adelaide testing found 2022-23. It works by reducing the heat load into the substrate/building and therefore the surface only deals with ambient temperatures. • Is this Einstien's "too simple" or Goldie Locks' "just right"? Prevent heat absorption into the structure and stop air leakage. We can quantify savings and project an ROI so there's no guess work. As J.E. Pritchett, President at SPI Coatings says, "Saving Energy is simply controlling the absorption or loading of heat into the envelope of a structure to avoid this heat load from affecting the energy use to control it." Tom Harris, Principal of PUR Consulting and the BEAT system says, "The Building Envelope plays an important role. An air leakage audit is inexpensive compared to Whole Building Energy Audit. It identifies the air leakage points and their contribution to energy efficiency and prioritizes the activities which lead to energy reduction." This can be done without effecting business operations and puts you in control of what you want to prioritize. Depending on your building, improvements can be cash flowed instead of capitalized. #innovation #sustainability #BE #buildingenvelope #facilityservices #coolroof #facilitymaintenance

  • I think we all know the effectiveness of putting insulation on the outside of the building in new construction. It's just a better solution all around. Can we get the same effect for existing buildings? Insulation coatings are a viable alternative to bolting on a new exterior wall. This is more than slapping on a coat of white paint. Insulation coatings are a robust coating that block heat transfer to the envelope. This keeps the building cool, dry and air tight. Same effect as a well designed building. Retrofit your building with better performing coatings for a better performing building. They are not equivalent. Call for recommendations. #innovation #sustainability #coolcoatings #decarbonization #facilityservices #facilitymaintenance #roofing #propertymaintenance

HPC vs. Conventional Cladding & Lagging Systems In industrial settings, insulation is critical for energy efficiency, safety, and long-term asset protection. Traditionally, cladding and lagging systems have been the go-to solution, involving layers of insulating material (like fiberglass and mineralwool) wrapped in metal or other protective coverings. But are these conventional systems still the best option? Let's compare them to the innovative HPC (Hot Pipe Coating) manufactured by SPI Coatings. 1. Efficiency & Performance - Conventional Systems: Typically require thick layers of insulation to achieve the desired thermal barrier, leading to significant bulk and potential heat loss at seams and joints. - HPC Coating: Uses advanced ceramic compounds to form a highly efficient thermal barrier. It reduces heat transfer with a much thinner application, allowing it to outperform traditional methods while using less material. 2. Installation & Maintenance - Conventional Systems: Installation can be labor-intensive and time-consuming, often requiring equipment shutdowns. Maintenance is also more complex, as cladding must be removed and replaced to inspect underlying surfaces. - HPC Coating: Can be applied directly to hot surfaces without shutting down operations, drastically reducing downtime. It also simplifies maintenance by eliminating the need for cladding removal with NDT methods able to assess the substrate and internals such as DRT, PAUT & PEC. 3. Corrosion Prevention - Conventional Systems: Cladding and lagging can trap moisture, leading to corrosion under insulation (CUI)—a costly issue in many industries both onshore and offshore. - HPC Coating: Provides a seamless barrier that protects against moisture infiltration, effectively elliminating the risk of CUI. 4. Longevity & Durability - Conventional Systems: Susceptible to wear and tear from environmental exposure, mechanical damage, and regular maintenance. - HPC Coating: Offers long-lasting protection that resists environmental stressors, reducing the need for frequent repairs or replacements. In summary, while conventional cladding and lagging have served industries for decades, HPC represents a significant leap forward in insulation technology and can deal with temperatures over 600C. It's more efficient, safer for workers, easier to apply and maintain and offers superior protection against corrosion. For industries looking to improve safety, reduce energy costs, and extend the life of their assets, HPC is a game-changer.
