About us

Wouldn't it be great if you could • Increase lease rates • Increase asset value • Increase employee/tenant productivity • Increase indoor comfort • Lower overhead/Higher profits • Improve building performance I help businesses lower their CODB by lowering or eliminating their energy bill. As an energy general contractor, we get buildings to net zero as quickly, efficiently and cheaply as possible. In working with Thermal Insulation Coatings, I have developed a fairly good knowledge of building science. Building envelopes manage heat, air, water and humidity. The TIC's I work with also modulate those. Knowing how they work together, or not, is important for the health of your building. We plug the leaks, increase efficiency and give people on site power generation, all with extensive incentives and potential in house financing. Ideal for businesses who own their own building or building owners. My specialty is heat & corrosion management, especially roof restoration. My TICs either keep surfaces (roof) cool or contain heat on process equipment while preventing CUI. The roof coating consistently gives 20%-30% energy reduction as a stand-alone product, sometimes more. I also work with an exceptionally effective and highly tested corrosion encapsulation coating called Rust Grip. There's plenty of really interesting details if you like to nerd out case studies like me. So don't forget to ask. We currently work with large chains in the hospitality industry. We would like to work with single or multi location businesses across the country and here in Colorado, to help improve margins and resilience. • If energy costs are within margins, why optimize for it? Because businesses reduce expenses and increase revenue whenever possible. Besides, your business deserves all the upside potential it brings. "CRE organizations that adopt and invest in [ESG] strategies will see improved asset values, better financing options, better quality tenants, lower operating costs, stronger employee engagement, healthier communities, and a greatly reduced carbon footprint. Doesn’t get much better than that".  – Channing Gibson, CREJ article The benefits are multi dimensional. For buildings with opaque walls, a solid color thermal barrier coating will go further and do more for the building with less fuss than other alternatives. There is no comparison. Period. DM me to see how we can help reinvent your building. #energyconsultant #envelopeconsultant #sustainability #energyefficiency #facilitymanagement #roofcoatings

  • I think we all know the effectiveness of putting insulation on the outside of the building in new construction. It's just a better solution all around. Can we get the same effect for existing buildings? Insulation coatings are a viable alternative to bolting on a new exterior wall. This is more than slapping on a coat of white paint. Insulation coatings are a robust coating that block heat transfer to the envelope. This keeps the building cool, dry and air tight. Same effect as a well designed building. Retrofit your building with better performing coatings for a better performing building. They are not equivalent. Call for recommendations. #innovation #sustainability #coolcoatings #decarbonization #facilityservices #facilitymaintenance #roofing #propertymaintenance

HPC vs. Conventional Cladding & Lagging Systems In industrial settings, insulation is critical for energy efficiency, safety, and long-term asset protection. Traditionally, cladding and lagging systems have been the go-to solution, involving layers of insulating material (like fiberglass and mineralwool) wrapped in metal or other protective coverings. But are these conventional systems still the best option? Let's compare them to the innovative HPC (Hot Pipe Coating) manufactured by SPI Coatings. 1. Efficiency & Performance - Conventional Systems: Typically require thick layers of insulation to achieve the desired thermal barrier, leading to significant bulk and potential heat loss at seams and joints. - HPC Coating: Uses advanced ceramic compounds to form a highly efficient thermal barrier. It reduces heat transfer with a much thinner application, allowing it to outperform traditional methods while using less material. 2. Installation & Maintenance - Conventional Systems: Installation can be labor-intensive and time-consuming, often requiring equipment shutdowns. Maintenance is also more complex, as cladding must be removed and replaced to inspect underlying surfaces. - HPC Coating: Can be applied directly to hot surfaces without shutting down operations, drastically reducing downtime. It also simplifies maintenance by eliminating the need for cladding removal with NDT methods able to assess the substrate and internals such as DRT, PAUT & PEC. 3. Corrosion Prevention - Conventional Systems: Cladding and lagging can trap moisture, leading to corrosion under insulation (CUI)—a costly issue in many industries both onshore and offshore. - HPC Coating: Provides a seamless barrier that protects against moisture infiltration, effectively elliminating the risk of CUI. 4. Longevity & Durability - Conventional Systems: Susceptible to wear and tear from environmental exposure, mechanical damage, and regular maintenance. - HPC Coating: Offers long-lasting protection that resists environmental stressors, reducing the need for frequent repairs or replacements. In summary, while conventional cladding and lagging have served industries for decades, HPC represents a significant leap forward in insulation technology and can deal with temperatures over 600C. It's more efficient, safer for workers, easier to apply and maintain and offers superior protection against corrosion. For industries looking to improve safety, reduce energy costs, and extend the life of their assets, HPC is a game-changer. • An innovation in insulation technology leads the FTC to take unprecedented action with Insulation Rule 460. Super Therm thin film insulation coating by SPI Coatings works as advertised acording to DOE testing. https://lnkd.in/gpFfWm9E #DOE #innovation #sustainability #insulationcoating #Facilitymaintenance #propertymaintenance

“INSULATION COATING” tested and developed with NASA then tested and Verified by the US DOE. SUPER THERM “insulation Coating” referred to as a “thin film” (10 mils/ 250 microns) designed to block all three sun radiation waves not only has been proven by NASA and US DOE but also is the only insulation coating verified under the FTC insulation Rule 460 requiring verification by DOE and experts in energy management. None of the reflective coatings and referred to as an insulation coatings being marketed have this verification. SUPER THERM was confident enough of its performance to have the DOE (Dept Of Energy) do their own independent testing under their Weatherization Assistance Program for low income housing to verify the advertised performance values stated by SPI Coatings manufacturer. The DOE program results were slightly better than advertised giving full verification to stated performance values. Next, the “Thick Film” Insulation coating HPC ( 250 mils/ 6mm and up according to level of facing heat) was independent tested by Georgia Pacific. After removing the standard wrap and jacketing off a digester in one of their plants, they coated the digester processing unit with HPC designed to “HOLD” the heat on the surface preventing loss of heat by holding it on the surface and inside the tank. Result was a 49% savings in the standard loss of energy saving $332,000 in one year of operation on one tank in one plant. Multiply this times the number of tanks, pipes, heat exchangers , ect in one company world wide. Also, HPC did not allow any CUI to develop which is normal with the standard insulation materials. All the advertisement being thrown out on the market about the “Insulation Coatings” and their supposed performance, can these advertisers prove anything in actual in-field performance?? None has been presented. With this being a fact, why would anyone chose them?? A question that should be answered by the energy managers positioned to save their company money by using the best performing products.

  • Raditive cooling or thermal barrier coatings are now mainstream. These coatings radiate or block the sun's heat keeping a building from heating up. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, as Benjamin Franklin wisely said. When you prevent solar overheating you reduce energy use thru HVAC runtime reduction. Keep out the heat you don't want to pay to cool while air sealing keeps in more of the heat you have already paid to cool. The dynamic duo of building envelope efficiency. Make your building cool, dry and air tight and it will serve you for decades to come with lower costs and lower carbon footprint. #sustainability #innovation #decarbonization #facilityservices #facilitymaintenance #propertymaintenance

  • Make your building high performance and energy efficient at the same time. When you make your building cool, dry and air tight it pulls the 3 decarbonization levers for building envelope performance. Cool. Do the people on the south side complain of over heating? Is your roof nearly too hot to walk on? Getting over heating complaints from repair techs? Want to hire Grok instead? Dry. A high performance coating keeps your building dry and able to dry out if needed. Watch your flashing. Air Tight. I can do an Enclosure Audit to find out how much air your building is currently leaking, what it will take to get it fixed and how much you will save afterwards. You have options. Some work better than best practices, some are best practices. • Buying or selling a CRE or industrial property? Adding asset value by reducing overhead can be a clear path forward. Energy efficiency is one way to do this. It provides clear recommendations and energy savings that improve your building and lower O&M costs. Building improvements and more efficient equipment are the two broad categories to look at. An efficient building reduces the size of equipment needed, reducing costs yet again. Beyond that there is on site renewable energy production with solar and/or wind or purchased through your electric company, if available. Wether you want to get more money for the sale of your building or improve the value of the building you just bought, energy efficiency is a great way to get a big bang for your buck. #decarbonization #esg #oandm #facilityservices #remodeling #sustainability #innovation

  • "Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler." -Einstein. Reducing demand side use of scope 2 emissions can be like that. Simple = a non-leaking building that doesn't absorb heat. But not overly simplified. Over simplification is "paint it white". A balanced apprach takes air leaks, heat movement methods (like air), heat sources, building use, HVAC and people's work habits into account. And knowing the solution options available to design a system that meets your needs. Initally, everyone benefits from plugging the air leaks and reducing heat absorbtion and movement. Then you may have to rebalance air handlers, if applicable. A building envelope audit is a good way to baseline your building and determine next steps.
