Now they face additional challenges, like no food or water, no transportation to hurricane relief centers, home repairs they can’t afford, and an impossible decision between going to work to afford rent or staying home to care for their children while schools are closed. Join us! We are meeting families where they are, going door-to-door in neighborhoods impacted by the storms, delivering supplies, assessing needs, and offering hope. That’s what we do. Better Together helps families in crisis — medical emergencies, homelessness, addiction, isolation — and now thousands of families are in crisis due to Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Volunteers are needed to help pack and deliver supplies, provide post-storm mentoring, help with repairs like tarping roofs and securing doors and windows, and hosting children while their parents get back on their feet. Tomorrow, we’ll be back on the ground in Newtown, Rubonia, and Pride Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., going door-to-door to connect with families and help meet urgent needs. The damage is real, but so is the resilience of these communities. There’s no red tape—just show up, and we’ll guide you on how you can help. On Saturday, we’ll extend our efforts to Charlotte, Hillsborough, and Pinellas counties. More details to come. When the storm passes, we will need more volunteers to help with hurricane relief. Better Together helps families weather life’s storms — a medical emergency, homelessness, addiction, isolation. A hurricane is yet another crisis that can destabilize a family. We are working with church partners and volunteers to organize an outreach on Saturday, October 12, to provide resources and deliver essential supplies to families impacted by the storm, including trucks of water provided by Gold Coast Eagle Distributing. Volunteers and regional churches are needed to help make this possible. Additionally, volunteers are needed to provide short-term child care to first responders, essential workers and families in need of getting their children into a safe environment. Hurricane Helene devastated a wide swath of our country. Families are reeling. Here in Florida, Better Together is boots on the ground to offer supplies and support to families who may be struggling or isolated. It’s what we do every day: Help families weather life’s storms, whether that’s a medical emergency, homelessness, addiction, isolation, or a Category 4. So we’re out here with our church partners and volunteers, not just offering supplies, but asking how we can help. We have host families who can care for children short term while their parents get back on their feet. We have mentors who can help families find resources and make a plan for building back stronger.
