About us

Since 2006, our mission has been to improve the delivery of legal services. To achieve this, we packed our team with legal operations managers, legal project managers, and certified paralegals. This powerful combination allows us to extend our reach and help our clients beyond what is typically expected from paralegals. Our team has extensive knowledge of law and legal procedure in: municipal law, contract law, and civil litigation. Beyond drafting ordinances, drafting complex legal documents, and preparing our clients for trial, we monitor legislative actions, create powerful visuals, and can oversee your next project from ideation through completion.

PARALEGALS: When e-Filing documents with the court, we all know it’s best practice (and required by most courts) to add electronic bookmarks. Well, did you know you can auto-generate Bookmarks and Links in Word? Think of the time you can save, when you automatically create Bookmarks and Links in your Word documents, and have Acrobat automatically convert the URLs in your Word documents to live links when the file is converted to PDF. Gamechanger, right? You can do this by simply adjusting your Acrobat settings to automatically perform both of these tasks in just a few steps. Here's how: ->Open Adobe Acrobat. ->Click EDIT from the options in the upper-left corner. ->Scroll down the display of features and select PREFERENCES. Opening the PREFERENCES dialogue box opens. ->Choose CONVERT TO PDF from the list of CATEGORIES on the far left of the PREFERENCES display. The CONVERTING TO PDF options display on the right. ->Select MS OFFICE WORD from the list of file types. ->Use the EDIT SETTINGS button to view and edit the settings for the Word documents that you convert to PDF. The ADOBE PDF SETTINGS pop-up displays. ->Check the box to ADD BOOKMARKS TO PDF FILE. ->Check the box to ADD LINKS TO PDF FILE. ->Click the OK button. The PREFERENCES dialogue box remains. ->Click the OK button in THE PREFERENCES pop-up. When done, make sure to check your PDFs to ensure that the bookmarks were added properly and that the URLs have converted to working links. *** Corporations and law firms hire Beyond Paralegals to put systems, processes, and technology in place to help drive client services and improve workflows for better legal and business outcomes. #wearebeyondparalegals

DEPOSITION SUMMARIES: The objective of a deposition summary is to present a condensed version of the deposition transcripts where key points are summarized and referenced with their corresponding page and line number from the original transcripts. There are three types of deposition summaries: 1.  page-line, 2.  topic-by-topic, and 3.  chronological. Throughout the litigation process, multiple parties will rely on the deposition summary. Attorneys rely on deposition summaries to prepare for pretrial motions, additional depositions, and trial witness exams. They are also useful for attorneys who could not be present at the deposition. Before attempting to write the summary of the deposition, the paralegal or the summarizer should keep these 3 basic steps in mind: 1. Reading the Transcripts: Focusing on questions asked by the attorneys and the witness’s responses. 2. Annotating Key Points: This includes highlighting the key points that need to be included in the summary. 3. Summarizing Key Points: This includes organizing the key points in the format of a chart, including columns like “Testimony,” “Topic,” and “Page/Line.” Writing a summary is ultimately about prioritizing information. There should not be any unrelated details in the summary, and it should reflect the focus of the deposition. As a rule of thumb, well-written summaries should be able to convey 5 pages worth of testimony in a single page of summary. *** Corporations and law firms hire Beyond Paralegals to put systems, processes, and technology in place to help drive client services and improve workflows for better legal and business outcomes. #wearebeyondparalegals
