Prof. Thomas, with a stellar career in genome editing, serves as the Director of the Genome Editing Program at the South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute, Adelaide, Australia, and holds the esteemed position of Professor at the School of Biomedicine, University of Adelaide, Australia.   About Prof. Paul Thomas: Prof. Paul Thomas is a leading authority in the field of genome editing. He has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and pioneering groundbreaking research throughout his career. Prof. Thomas embarked on his journey in the field of genetics and genome editing by completing a 3-year post-doctoral position under the guidance of the late Dr. Rosa Beddington at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in London.   In 1998, Prof. Thomas returned to Australia, where he received the prestigious NHMRC Florey Fellowship. With this support, he established an independent research group at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute in Melbourne, a pivotal moment that laid the foundation for his remarkable career.   In 2006, Prof. Thomas made the strategic move to the University of Adelaide, where his expertise continued to flourish. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to science, he was awarded the esteemed Pfizer Australia Research Fellowship in 2008. In 2014, Prof. Thomas achieved the rank of full Professor and went on to establish the South Australian Genome Editing (SAGE) facility, an essential resource for advancing genome editing research in the region. In 2018, he made another significant stride in his career by joining the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, reaffirming his commitment to pioneering research in the field.   Prof. Thomas has left an indelible mark on the scientific community with over 130 published scientific articles and an astonishing 11,000+ citations. This innovative drug delivery technology has laid the foundation for her entrepreneurial venture, Carmine Therapeutics.   In recognition of her exceptional achievements, Dr. Le has been honored with numerous prestigious awards, including the L'Oréal Singapore for Women in Science National Fellowship, the Jane Coffin Childs Fellowship, the Falling Wall Venture Award, and, most recently, the Graduate Mentor of the Year (GRAMAY) award.
