🎞 That's a wrap on Cytiva's panel at Phacilitate Advanced Therapies Europe on 'Applying Process Optimisation and Intensification to Cell and Gene Therapy Manufacturing', chaired by Emmanuelle Cameau. I learned so much from our panelists: Alessandra De Riva (Advent Bioservices), Manuel Carrondo (iBET - Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica), Ben Weil (INmune Bio Inc.), Marc Davies (Leucid Bio) and Sofia Venceslau (Recipharm). Key takeaways: 💡 For cell therapy, we may never reach a pinnacle optimised process as new tools and technologies are evolving and must adopt a continuous improvement mindset. 💡 10 days sounds like a short turnaround time to manufacture your cell therapy, but patients are dying in that time... we must do better. 💡 Working with the regulators early is key and an example was given in the UK that a pragmatic approach was taken for terminal patients with no other treatment options, weighing up the risk/benefit. 💡 For processes, we need to balance control and standardisation with flexibility 💡 It takes a lot of time and money to do the analytics for process optimisation/intensification but it is essential and should benefit in the long term. 💡Ultimate question is whether patients are benefiting. #ATE23 #Celltherapy #genetherapy #ProcessOptimisation #ProcessIntensification
