With two #R1 research universities now operating in Indianapolis, the city has a unique opportunity to position itself as a national leader in life sciences and #technology. At a recent The Economic Club of Indiana luncheon, Indiana University Indianapolis Chancellor Latha Ramchand and Purdue University in Indianapolis COO Dan Hasler outlined their vision for a reimagined innovation district, where research, industry, and academia intersect to drive economic growth and fuel scientific breakthroughs. IU Indianapolis is doubling down on life sciences with its planned IU Launch Accelerator for Biosciences (IU LAB), a $138 million facility at the 16 Tech Innovation District that will serve as a hub for biosciences research. The Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium (Big Ten CRC), based in Indianapolis, unites top cancer centers to accelerate clinical trials and advance new treatments. By leveraging the expertise of researchers—especially those early in their careers—the consortium fosters discoveries that might not happen otherwise.
