Happy National Cat Day! Today, we celebrate our feline friends who bring joy and companionship to our lives. 🐈🎉 Every week, BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Transport program works to relocate cats (and dogs!) from overcrowded shelters. Recently, we had a very special all-cat transport. Nearly 30 cats were flown from overcrowded shelters in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi to second chances in New Hampshire. The best part—they were all black cats! 🖤 Their journey began when BPF assisted with a cruelty case with dozens of black cats. Our partner, Hub City Humane Society in Mississippi, took the cats into their care but struggled to find them loving homes due to “Black Cat Syndrome”—a phenomenon of black cats being overlooked by adopters in favor of cats with lighter coats. We asked our partners to help, and the team at New Hampshire SPCA excitedly stepped up and welcomed this special group into their care. They also had additional space, which allowed us to send black cats from other partner shelters. The community embraced this special delivery, with nearly all of cats finding loving homes within a week of their arrival. Your support makes second chances like this possible. Because of you, BPF has impacted 419,293 cats since 2011. 😻 #NationalCatDay

Our emergency hurricane transport pets are finding loving homes! 😍 🐾 Bo (formerly Kooka Burra) is one of the more than 1,000 pets we have relocated from hurricane-impacted areas since before Hurricane Helene made landfall in September. This sweet pup came from Yancey County Humane Society in Burnesville, NC. He was already in the shelter waiting for his second chance when the storm hit. Following the storm's devastation, this shelter and many others in western North Carolina lost power and had no access to water to care for their pets. Thanks to a lifesaving transport from BISSELL Pet Foundation, Bo and more than 150 pets were safely relocated to clear critical space in the shelter to recover, take in displaced pets and reunite families. We're happy to share that Bo was recently adopted from Richmond SPCA! Your generous support made Bo's emergency transport possible. Even though the hurricanes have ended, our work continues. 🚨🌀 Emergency transports are still underway for pets impacted by the hurricanes! Today, 50 homeless pets from western North Carolina were airlifted to safety and second chances in Connecticut. All pets on this flight were either available for adoption prior to the storms or have since been surrendered by their owners. BISSELL Pet Foundation's Animal Incident Management team continues to work closely with shelters in the impact zones to provide lifesaving solutions after the recent hurricanes. To date, we've relocated more than 1,000 shelter pets impacted by the recent hurricanes. The situation remains urgent as local shelters are overwhelmed, and space is limited. These transports are crucial in making room for incoming displaced pets in local shelters, giving them a second chance while reuniting families or a chance at a loving home. Thank you to our incredible shelter and rescue partners and donors who make this lifesaving work possible. We're saving lives together. Please consider donating to support our continued efforts: https://lnkd.in/gzqJTssQ
