Building resilient cybersecurity programs to detect cyber threats in seconds and MTTC in minutes | MDR | Response | Remediation | Results
According to a recent report, financial services firms are 300 times more likely to be targeted by a cyber attack, with an average breach cost of $5.9 million USD. #PII was the costliest and most-common data exfiltrated in breaches. 💸 Blackswan Cybersecurity has built a custom cybersecurity service solving for the following cybersecurity challenges that #CreditUnions face and being able to reduce the cyber risk of an attack. We partner with the Cornerstone League to protect their member credit unions 24x7x365 from a cyber attack and respond before it becomes a business impacting event that can result in downtime and damage to brand reputation. 🔐 1) Insufficient and outdated technology- This leads to unpatched vulnerabilities and cybersecurity gaps. 2) Strained workforce- IT teams at credit unions are overworked and under- resourced. 3) Incident Response and Regulatory Reporting-Credit unions must notify the NCUA as soon as possible, and no later than 72 hours of a cyber incident/data breach. 4) Managing cyber insurance requirements- Premiums continue to increase along with the needed requirements that now expand far beyond basic security controls to more comprehensive measures. 5) Increased Risk of Ransomware- Credit unions are targeted by threat actors with this kind of attack due to the vast reputation and financial damage that can occur if they don’t immediately pay ransom. 6) Supply Chain Risks- Credit Unions work with several vendors and often have multiple locations with a vast user base. If you don't have a cybersecurity program or have recently done a cyber gap assessment, now is the time to be proactive to identify #cyberrisk for your organization. ✅ #Financialrisk #CreditUnion #PII #Cyber #AI #machinelearning #Financialcompliance #FinancialAudit #Houstonbanking #Dallasbanking #Austinbanking #SanAntoniobanking #Financialreporting #Financialbreach #databreach #incidentresponse #MTTD #MTTC #NCUA #Vulnerability

American Water Works Company, Inc., the largest regulated water and wastewater utility in the United States, reported a cybersecurity incident on October 3, 2024, affecting its computer networks and systems. This incident highlights the growing cybersecurity challenges faced by critical water infrastructure. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently warned that cyberattacks against water utilities in the U.S. are becoming more frequent and severe. As energy and utility providers look to bridge the gap, a holistic approach that matures prevention, detection, response and recovery capabilities will be critical in mitigating risk to an increasingly susceptible sector of critical infrastructure. Below are the top energy/utility industry challenges- 🎯A clear understanding of risk based best practices 🎯Lack of visibility into IT and OT assets 🎯Technical capabilities to identify and contain threats across IT and OT 🎯Zero-day risks, often associated with global mega attacks or industrial safety events 🎯Lack of internal resources and expertise 🎯Lack of alignment between OT and IT 🎯Lack of a response plan and a slow response to past incidents 🎯Compliance and regulatory regimes #criticalinfrastructure #waterbreach #cyberattack #Blackhat #hacker #EPA #incidentresponse #energy #threatintel

"Too big to fail" is a dangerous mindset. Relying on one major partner or revenue stream can put any business at risk. Diversification is key—leaders need the courage to balance growth with resilience and avoid putting all their eggs in one basket.
