Our CEO Coach Rose Smith is humbled and honored to create and organize the “Serving Our City” Community Service Day. We are beyond excited to invite the community to serve in the trenches with us. We join forces with George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center to host this initiative and community opportunity! The event is powered by Dream Together 2030 . Its vision is to create a thriving community where neighbors care for neighbors in such a fashion that citizens and visitors alike say, “Greater Austin cares deeply for all of the people in the region!” As the Co-Chair for the DT 2030 Food Disparity Team, our long-term goal is to continue building bridges between East Austin and institutional organizations, and to design and implement strategies to dramatically decrease the number of people experiencing food insecurities in Travis County. According to a report provided by our community partner, Central Texas Food Bank 16.2% of the Travis County population is food insecure. That equates to 208,411 residents not knowing where they will get their next meal from. Of this number, 55,908 are children and 23,108 are seniors. Black Women has delivered and served free groceries to 191,100 families WITHOUT any governmental funding! We have served daily for more than 4 and a half years, and the mission continues. ON OCTOBER 17th from 12-7pm, we will give away free groceries and a BBQ meal for all attendees prepared by Chris Robinson, Owner of Sky’s Catering🔥🔥🔥. We are preparing to serve hundreds of families! The event is free to the public. It is a day designed to serve our city - together. We would like to thank our community partners Joe Bland Construction, LLC and Ballet Austin for their contributions to support the event! We couldn’t do any of this without you! If you, your business or organization would like to VOLUNTEER or DONATE, please EMAIL info@blackwomeninbusiness.org Your support is appreciated. We look forward to serving with you! This is how we change the game…💪🏽 #communityservice #food #community #bwib #traviscounty #fooddistribution #unite #servethepeople #wearebettertogether

The key to WINNING is recruiting “players” who are READY to work! In the words of our CEO Rose Smith “Community service providers should always be committed to the mission and passionate about the people being served.” Our motto is “Serving Community Like Family.” The Black Women In Business “Street Team” IS family. The love and commitment for our community is unmatched. We have delivered and served free groceries to more than 185,000 residents in Travis County and beyond with a heavy and intentional focus on East Austin, seniors, residents with disabilities and families in need. None of this would have been possible without our BWIB members and community volunteers. We are forever grateful for the women and men who dedicate their time to serve others. Our food program’s success is an example of what we can accomplish when we work together. This is how we change the game…❤️ #fooddistributionprogram #community #bwib #foodinsecurity #eastaustin #traviscounty

JUNETEENTH “Freedom Day”: As we celebrate Juneteenth this year, we are reminded of the profound significance of this day in our nation’s history. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day symbolizes not just the end of slavery but also the enduring spirit of resilience and hope within the African American community. TODAY, we encourage you to invest in Black owned businesses, support a Black led non-profit organization, collaborate with several youth groups or serve seniors who have helped mold our lives and shape our cities. Black Women In Business invites you to support our Juneteenth Fundraiser. All proceeds will go toward our BWIB Community Food Relief Program. To date we have delivered and served more than 170,000 seniors and families without any governmental funding. Our focus is centered in East Austin, Travis County and surrounding areas. Our goal is to continue to fight food insecurities within the underserved communities.
