May 12, 2024,
National Police Week is May 12 to May 18 this year and Peace Officers Memorial Day is May 15th. Established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. Blaine Police Officers are authorized to wear mourning badges during this week as we honor the men and women in law enforcement who have paid the ultimate price serving their communities.
There is great significance to the City of Blaine and our police officers with the loss of officers from Blaine Police Department and other agencies that have served in Whatcom County. Officers that were Blaine police officers include:
Chief Michael Knapp - EOW November 6, 2019
Assistant Chief Larry Duronso - EOW September 4, 1978
Officer Douglas Krenz - EOW September 4, 1978
Please join us in remembering these fallen officers. They are gone but never forgotten!
