We're a robotics team based in Eagan, MN. Our goal is to light up the world by making STEM equitable for all.
About us
Team 2220 has 51 students and nine mentors, all dedicated to our primary goal of promoting STEM equity. Our team has a high amount of sustainability, which is based on three main factors. First, we have extensive training for incoming students using a new onboarding system and written documentation in Google Drive. Second, we set goals and adapt our outreach to current circumstances. We offered virtual soldering classes and applied for grants to provide our STEM classes for FREE. Third, Team 2220 has a strong vision for the future; we set aggressive goals, work to achieve them, and use a SWOT analysis to evaluate strengths and opportunities and identify areas for improvement. We do our best to ensure that we uphold our team mission: to conduct STEM outreach, build student leaders and expand FIRST locally and globally. We spread FIRST through our four innovative outreach initiatives: Eagan FIRST Robotics, Women In Robotics Empowering Sisters, Robots Without Borders, and STEM in Action. In the past 3 years, we conducted over 40 outreach events annually and this year we reached more than 30,000 people.

In addition to making really high quality tees, Elpis Enterprises is a Saint Paul-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides job training, work experience and employment assistance for young people between ages 16 and 23 years of age who are experiencing homelessness. February 11 is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The day is an annual observance adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to promote full and equal access and participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. To help mark the occasion, we had the opportunity to sit down with Shirsha, a Director of Engineering for TR Labs based in India.
