The women of BluePearl are leaders in veterinary medicine, providing exceptional care and compassion to pets when they need it most. And their compassion reaches far beyond the walls of our specialty and emergency pet hospitals. Jen Cook, CVT, at our Tampa, FL, hospital brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in areas like venipuncture, radiology and anesthesia. Her passion for Associate development truly shines in her work, especially as she mentors new team members. Recently, Jen volunteered with BluePearl Cares at the Bahamas Humane Society, training shelter staff on essential topics like low-stress handling, first aid and CPR. Before that, she joined BluePearl Cares on the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona to work alongside partners in elevating the access to care through spays, neuters, vaccinations, microchipping, and more. By sharing her passion, knowledge and talents, Jen provided vital skills and care to under-resourced communities to help create #ABetterWorldForPets. Jen’s dedication to making a difference is truly inspiring, and her passion, leadership and commitment to excellence make her a shining example of what it means to #ElevateVetMed. At BluePearl, our commitment to empowering women in leadership isn't just about breaking barriers—it's about enhancing the lives of the pets we care for every day. When our Associates thrive, so do our patients. During her three years at BluePearl, Lauren Aldrich, DVM, MS, DACVS-SA, at our Fort Myers, FL, hospital has consistently taken on the most complex surgeries, and her exceptional skills - combined with her ability to make clients feel comfortable and confident - make her a standout in our team. But Dr. Aldrich’s impact goes beyond the operating room. She is also passionate about education, sharing her knowledge with her team, as well as local veterinarians and technicians in the community. She builds personal connections with everyone she works with—team members, clients, and, most importantly, her patients. Her dedication to both her profession and the animals she cares for exemplifies the positive impact that empowered women have on pets' well-being. At BluePearl, we know that when we support and uplift our Associates, we're also fostering a healthier, happier environment for the pets we serve. 🐾 #BeingBluePearl #ProudlyMars #WomensEqualityDay #WomenInVetMed

At BluePearl, we’re committed to elevating the industry in the pursuit of veterinary excellence for a sustainable future. In our community, that means we are constantly searching for new ways to advance our profession and ensure that pets receive the best care when they need it most. Recently, our Sarasota, FL, hospital hosted a comprehensive training session for first responders, empowering K9 handlers from Sarasota K9 Search & Rescue with life-saving CPR techniques for working dogs. Led by our technician trainer, Kara Magneheim, BAS, CVT, VTS, this two-hour class included a detailed overview of administering standard CPR to an injured K9 and the opportunity for handlers to practice and refine their CPR skills on a K9 manikin. Thank you to Kara and our Sarasota hospital team for offering this CPR training and refresher to the dedicated Sarasota K9 Search & Rescue handlers and #ElevatingVetMed! 👏 (Photo credit: @bluepearlsarasota) #BluePearlSarasota #K9SearchAndRescue #VeterinaryMedicine #CPRTraining

Parvovirus in puppies is a common disease with deadly consequences. This is why it’s so important for owners of young dogs to be fully aware of what parvo is, what the symptoms are and how to avoid it. Our team in Ann Arbor, MI, is sharing some helpful information about parvo and why vaccinations are so important: "Parvovirus is extremely contagious, so Dr. Lee and Veterinary Assistant Brooke took precautions like wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) to avoid cross-contaminating between their patients. Parvovirus is preventable by a quick, inexpensive vaccine. Without the vaccine, your pet could end up in the ER after contracting the virus. If your pet has not yet been vaccinated for parvo, call your primary veterinarian and make an appointment with them ASAP." Learn more about parvo in puppies at https://lnkd.in/ethBe-NZ. Degenerative lumbosacral stenosis (DLSS) is a common condition of the lower spine in large breed dogs. The condition can be managed medically, with pain medications and physiotherapy, or with various types of surgeries. Selecting a surgical approach can be challenging in some patients, and demonstrating hypermobility of the lower spine can help with surgical decision making. A recent study, authored by one of BluePearl's third year surgery residents, evaluates a new approach to documenting hypermobility in DLSS that could help surgeons make better treatment decisions for their patients in the future. During Itchy Pet Awareness Month and throughout the year, our veterinary dermatology teams are hard at work helping pets with issues like itchy and scratchy ears. Shown here, Lisa Reiter, DVM, DACVD, along with Ashley, CVT, and Gracie, CVT, at our Arden Hills, MN, hospital, perform a bilateral video-otoscopy, deep ear lavage, and a myringotomy (draining a build-up of fluid in the middle ear) to bring relief to a patient. Dr. Reiter shared, "Video-otoscopy is instrumental in the treatment of chronic, recurrent, painful ear infections, including middle ear infections, that are not resolving with routine treatment. Treatment of difficult ear conditions is a passion of our dermatology team!" Learn more about veterinary dermatology at BluePearl: https://lnkd.in/gWv6BUc.
