Like his counterparts practically everywhere, John Bowling found himself reassessing the need for office space during and after the worst of COVID-19. As the long-time facilities leader, he had supported teams as small as 20 of the usual 235 or so support-staff employees regularly at their desks during the height of the pandemic, and the rest were directed to work remotely. So, did Bank Independent really need to accommodate that many people in a planned 95,000-square-foot, four-story operations facility on 50 acres bought from the Tennessee Valley Authority in 2018? The short answer is yes. “This isn’t New York City, although Madison County is a hot, growing area,” the congenial Bowling says from bank headquarters in the Northwest Alabama city of Florence, just above the Tennessee River. “Working remotely isn’t as popular here as in other areas of the country. People were asking when they could come back. If anything, this will strengthen office morale and make us so much more collaborative with everyone under one roof.” READ THE STORY: https://lnkd.in/eGxBJmxy

Spanning 200 acres, the center provides Class A logistics, retail, and business park facilities, including two million square feet occupied by Amazon. Now, it’s a matter of leasing the last five buildings, and Gilliland says he’s well on his way to doing so. Read The Story: https://lnkd.in/d6ZfEsCp

As the director of facilities and transportation for Yough School District in Western Pennsylvania, Lisa Spinneweber is at the forefront of integrating a holistic approach to facilities management. Her dual responsibilities provide her with unique insights into creating safer and more comfortable environments for the school community. Spinneweber’s approach focuses on physical safety and comfort, as well as the overall well-being of students, staff, and visitors. She always considers holistic health principles in her decision-making. The district has three elementary buildings, one intermediate/middle school building, and one high school building, serving approximately 1,800 students.
