"Autonomy enables a new way of doing things with machines. 'Machines are built around an operator with two eyes...but all of a sudden, when you have vision and use multiple cameras around a machine, you have this full 360-degree view of everything.' This new realm of robotics pushes us to form factors that can 'enable us to do a lot more in different ways.'" Many thanks to The Modern Acre for hosting CEO Tyler Niday, where he shared insights on the power of optics-based autonomy and his thoughts on the future of agriculture. Give it a listen!

When we talk about robotics in farming, the conversation tends to focus on efficiency, precision, and scale, but one benefit that doesn’t always get the spotlight is how much it advances sustainability. By helping us do more with less, robotics reduces resource use while increasing food production—exactly what we need to meet the challenge of feeding a growing world. At Bonsai Robotics, we’re obsessed with vision-based autonomy, but it’s this broader impact for growers, consumers, and the environment that gets us excited about the future of farming. Big thanks to SVG Ventures | THRIVE for gathering a roster of companies and judges pushing the needle on what's possible in food and agricultural production. It was an honor to participate! 💫

🎉 Last week, Bonsai turned 2! In just two years, we've grown from a small idea into a team of 30 dedicated to automating orchard operations. Our goal was to create the lowest-cost, highest-performing technology, and feedback from our early OEM partners and grower customers confirms that Bonsai offers a truly unique orchard autonomy solution. Our Visionsteer technology excels in harsh, dusty environments, operating seamlessly without constant GPS or data connectivity. We know this is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see what year 3 brings! 🌱🚜

According to Rabobank, 87% of commercial agricultural robotic equipment is currently owned by startups. At Bonsai Robotics, we take a different approach. Instead of building and marketing our own machinery, we collaborate directly with equipment manufacturers. Think of us as an on-call team of robotic experts, working with agricultural OEMs to enhance the robotic capabilities of their machinery. This collaborative spirit is central to our identity and a key reason we believe we're on the right path.

Our time in Australia has been incredible! Thanks to all the growers who have joined us during the sunny Australian winter. We tackled hills, big trees, and had great discussions about the future of the nut industry. Now, fired up and ready, we look forward to our next challenge: California's harvest season! 🇦🇺🚜
