Boone County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Center Groundbreaking Ceremony This morning we broke ground on the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Center, which has been in the planning stages for the last couple of years. This will be a monumental day for Boone County as we expand our facilities to take law enforcement training to the next level, both locally and for our partnering agencies around Missouri. Presiding Commissioner Kip Kendrick and Sheriff Dwayne Carey spoke about the importance of this Regional Training Center. Presiding Commissioner Kendrick concluded his remarks by stating, “This is going to be a great addition to an already top-notch Sheriff’s Office.” Sheriff Carey followed by explaining the Boone County Sheriff’s Office’s regional training approach that began years ago and has further developed over the last decade. As Sheriff Carey spoke about regional law enforcement training and the new training center he stated, “The regional concept works. It is kind of like the Field of Dreams. If you build it, they will come, so we are getting ready to build this.” One of Sheriff Carey’s goals is to prepare the men and women in law enforcement, at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and around Missouri, to have the knowledge and skills needed to provide the best law enforcement service to our citizens. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Center will enable us to meet this goal. It has taken a lot of collaboration and support from many of our partners at the local and state levels to see the vision of a Boone County Regional Training Center come to fruition. We would like to thank those partners and the public for supporting this project!
