This Black History Month, we’re proud to highlight the Black-owned businesses in our portfolio that are driving economic justice and industry change. First up: SRGE, a firm dedicated to empowering small and diverse contractors by providing the tools, strategies, and capital they need to scale. Founded by JocCole “JC” Burton, a trailblazer in real estate development and the first Black woman to hold a mayoral appointment on Boston’s Construction Licensing Board, SRGE is breaking barriers in the construction industry. Through its Capacity Building, Capital Readiness, and Workforce Development programs, SRGE helps minority contractors access funding, build strategic partnerships, and develop the skills needed to compete in large-scale projects. By bridging the gap between small contractors and high-value opportunities, SRGE is creating a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable construction industry.
