The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS), the Massachusetts state-wide public defender agency, is looking for private attorneys to represent children and indigent parents in child welfare appeals. CPCS provides training and mentoring; your time-commitment and hours can be flexible to fit your legal practice; and all of CPCS's appeals get oral argument at the Appeals Court. If you are interested, please see the attached flyer, notice of the upcoming training (which also provides more information about CPCS private panel work), and application for the training. CPCS is looking for attorneys of all experience levels who are committed to social justice and who have either child welfare trial experience, other kinds of appellate experience, or other substantial writing experience. https://lnkd.in/gaKY7Urp https://lnkd.in/g_gKF5gv

Boston isn’t just any sports city—it’s The Hub of Champions. With 13 championship titles between the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and Red Sox since 2000, plus the New England Revolution and a brand-new Women’s Professional Hockey team, Boston is the ultimate destination for sports enthusiasts. But it’s not just the fans who are winning big—lawyers here have the unique opportunity to work with some of the most successful franchises in history. Join us at the offices of Holland & Knight LLP on Tuesday, October 15, for an exclusive event where you’ll hear from the legal minds advising these iconic teams: James Parker, Jen Flynn, Jim Cobery, Mandy Petrillo, in a discussion moderated by Keith Carroll. Meet the attorneys who navigate the high-stakes world of professional sports, from drafting contracts and negotiating leases to ensuring compliance and handling unexpected challenges that come with the territory. Beyond the usual legal duties, discover how these lawyers contribute to foundation work, manage complex marketing partnerships, and support operations—all in pursuit of the next big win. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to connect with the legal forces behind the teams that define Boston sports. https://lnkd.in/ekUNrin7

BBA members had a great time yesterday taking a guided site tour of the Seaport World Trade Center, offering an up-close look at the ongoing construction and the real-world implementation of climate resiliency measures. Thank you to Andrew Dankwerth, Dianne R. Phillips, Jamie Fay, Jessica Wall, and Terrence McNeil for an engaging conversation about how coastal developments like the Seaport face increasing challenges related to sustainability, resiliency, and regulatory compliance. October is Pro Bono Month! We encourage all of our members to get involved with our legal services partners and support their communities. The BBA's Delivery of Legal Services Section invites you to a mixer on Thursday night at the BBA to connect with friends and colleagues over appetizers and beverages. Section members as well as their colleagues, folks working in legal services organizations, and new lawyers and law students interested in working at legal services are all welcome to attend. In addition, this gathering will provide an opportunity for legal services offices with newer hires to get their staff together and/or connected to others in the legal services space. Mingle with legal services providers and learn how you can get involved in the great work they do! https://lnkd.in/ev4xkFmc

Kick off Pro Bono Month at the BBA tomorrow night! Join the Environmental Justice Assistance Network (EJAN) through BBF Grantee, Alternatives for Community and Environment (ACE)! EJAN is a pro bono capacity-building and referral network that matches legal, scientific, public health, and technical experts with communities that are addressing environmental justice challenges. This session will provide attendees with the information needed to assist low-income communities and communities of color (environmental justice communities) with fighting environmental hazards. These communities are often navigating the challenges of unhealthy air, water, major developmental proposals, and other issues without access to legal or technical assistance. Attend and learn how you can help! Prospective volunteers will be encouraged to join the network of EJAN experts and volunteer their pro bono expertise by taking on EJAN cases. ACE offers malpractice coverage for EJAN attorneys (only on EJAN cases) and provides additional resources and trainings to attorneys in the network. Register for this virtual event here: https://lnkd.in/eHpCuhUq
