We foster inclusivity and representation to expand and enrich the collective understanding of what music is, has been, and can be.     As part of our Kennedy Center Social Impact Partnership, Boulanger Initiative will be hosting two days of Teaching Artist Training Workshops, August 13th and August 15th from 11:30am-4:30pm in the REACH. Elementary through high school age teachers will observe BI Staff teach culturally responsive music composition and history workshops with students in real-time and then work with staff, hands-on, practicing teaching those same workshops.     Join BI's Research Coordinator Dr. Caiti Beth McKinney tonight at 6 PM ET for a her virtual presentation "REPresent: Matters of Repertoire and Representation." Dr. McKinney will discuss several issues facing the conscientious musician, including the how and why of her project REPresent (a database of works for horn by underrepresented composers), how to program diverse solo and chamber repertoire, and additional resources for those who want to dig even deeper into uncanonized and even de-canonized music.
