About us
Boyer was organized in 1942 by a group of doctors, parents and volunteers to provide services for children with cerebral palsy in a community setting. Today, more than 80 years later, Boyer continues to be a leader and highly-valued resource in the community promoting services for children with neuromuscular disabilities and developmental delays. Boyer is the largest provider of ESIT services in Seattle for children birth to teen (focused primarily on children age birth to three), serving over 1,200 children and their families annually. We have two locations: our flagship site in the Montlake neighborhood, and our new satellite clinic in Magnuson Park. Depending on each child’s needs, Boyer establishes an interdisciplinary team that may include therapists, a developmental pediatrician, nurses, educators, social workers and family resources coordinators to maximize identification, consultation and integration of services.

Did you know that July is #DisabilityPrideMonth, and this year marks the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? It is a special time to celebrate the power of inclusivity and accessibility for people of all abilities, raise awareness, and highlight the strength and perseverance of the disability community. As part of Disability Pride Month, today is #DisabilityAwarenessDay! Today and every day, we celebrate the rich history, monumental achievements, and diverse experiences of the disability community. We also acknowledge the challenges people with disabilities still face, even with laws like the ADA that help promote inclusion. In July and throughout the year, Boyer shines a spotlight on inspiring stories that showcase the power of inclusion and what can be achieved when barriers are broken down. Please read Conner’s story, a Boyer alum who has competed for Team USA in the ParaPan-American Games: https://lnkd.in/gRpdUEkn Let’s continue to celebrate and advocate for inclusion for all, not just this month, but every day!

Thank you to the 47th Avenue Foundation for selecting Boyer as their July partner spotlight! We appreciate all you do to empower and uplift our community.
This month, we are proud to shine a spotlight on Boyer Children's Clinic, an organization that has been a cornerstone of the Seattle community since 1942. As the largest Early Services provider in Seattle, Boyer is a critical resource for children with special needs and their families, offering a broad range of programs that are designed to take advantage of the critical early childhood stage of brain development. The programs are also created to help parents form strong, nurturing relationships with their child and to equip them with the tools to become their child’s best advocate. Boyer will be closed on Wednesday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. We hope you will join us in finding meaningful ways to center, honor and celebrate the Black community, whether through volunteering, attending local events/celebrations, participating in educational opportunities, supporting Black-owned businesses, or making charitable donations to organizations that defend civil rights. We are pleased to share a few child-centered resources on Juneteenth for kids and families. We hope they will help guide conversations and spark ideas on how we can stand up for justice and create change, today and every day. https://lnkd.in/gvFNPgqV https://lnkd.in/gmkDa4Ps https://lnkd.in/gUn_YEMd https://lnkd.in/gU-YrSBp https://lnkd.in/gRPe9NrP

This is a day for Boyer and the entire community to celebrate: this afternoon, Governor Jay Inslee signed House Bill 1916 into law! Thanks to this critical piece of legislation, funding will improve for all Early Support for Infants & Toddlers (ESIT) providers across Washington State, and, most importantly, allow more families to access to our life-changing services. It took the voices and efforts of so many to make this moment possible. We appreciate all who supported this important bill, including its Primary Sponsor, Representative Tana Senn. We are also grateful to our friends at King County, WA, the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families, ECDAW, our fellow ESIT Agency providers, and you, our amazing champions and advocates, for your partnership to pass this critical legislation!

We were honored to have two Boyer staff members attend the recent NW Children's Foundation Forum, “Child Well-Being and the New Science of Trauma: Regulating the Nervous System to Promote Healing.” Our Social Worker, Bill Scott, said: “Dr. Linda Chamberlain highlighted the importance of attending to both ‘Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Co-Regulation’ when trauma enters our work as ESIT providers, because of how trauma can disrupt connections within families as well as between us and those families. Linda's examples have helped me to clarify my role as a reflective supervisor for ESIT staff, in their work of connecting with and supporting children and their caregivers.” Thank you to the Northwest Children’s Foundation for being such incredible partners and advocates for all!
